Weekend Recap || Starting With A Smile

In the middle of last week I saw a saying somewhere that suggested smiling before you get out of bed in the morning and it made me stop and self reflect. I can’t even remember the last time my alarm went off, I smiled, and popped out of bed ready to tackle the day. It usually looks something like this:

5:45am: Alarm goes off. Hit pre-set snooze button for 7 minutes.
5:52am: Alarm goes off again. Make a decision as to if I want to hit my 5 minute snooze button….
5:54am: Begrudgingly decide to get out of bed and shuffle my feet into the bathroom.

No where in there is a smile.

So I decided to give it a try starting Thursday morning. Admittedly I felt silly (not sure why, it’s not like anyone could see me…), but it did give me a chuckle, which was better than muttering under my breath as I headed to the restroom.

I tried it again Friday, and it actually made me feel “happier.” Now, to be fair, it was Friday. It’s hard not to be happy when Friday rolls around… but it did feel different. A “good” different.

So as we approach a new week and a fresh start, I’m going to try this every morning this week and see the impact it has on my day. I have a feeling starting the day with a smile will carry over into the rest of the day as well….

Hope you all have a good week ahead!

(Friday cheers… tank, joggers, earrings, chain necklace, herringbone necklace)

(Did a recovery peloton ride Saturday after Friday morning’s long run… highly recommend them for low impact workouts…. leggings (more Varley pieces), sports bra, scrunchi)

(A weekend spent the same way we spent it last weekend… poolside….)

(From the pool to the fireplace…)

(Homemade pizza (used our favorite Clo Clo vegan cauliflower crust) + bubbles… made it more of a date night by eating after the girls went down…)

(Back by the pool early Sunday morning… pants, sweater)

We made this Pozole recipe last week and it was delicious… we’ve made it before, but my love for it was renewed.

I found some super cute dresses for spring: this white eyelet dress, floral maxi dress, blush sweatshirt dress, linen button-down dress, white slip-dress, rust + gold maxi dress, and this tie dye maxi slip-dress.

Love this raffia oversized hair clip… such a cute and easy way to add spring to a wardrobe.

I purchased these Easter baskets for the girls (got an early start this year)… but these straw bunny baskets are adorable as well.

Gorjana launched a new vintage looking collection- love these statement earrings, this chain pendant, and this mixed media necklace… all so beautiful.

Everlane has a few beautiful new arrivals… love this white blouse (so cute for a date night), and my open knit sweater from last year was brought back in several colors (I own it in bone, but praline is similar)… also love these casual shorts.
