I headed out to the Foodstirs’ offices yesterday and had my outfit planned out the evening before…. a cute pair of wide legged pants, a cami, and my favorite white slides. I woke up to a rainy morning, and had to seriously reconfigure the outfit. For the past few days, May gray has been in full effect…. overcast skies, even a full on rainy day, and temps that called for sweatshirts + jeans… not pretty little eyelet tops and cut-offs. All that being said, the weather is supposed to heat up this weekend, and spring-like temps are coming back. Which got me thinking about easy, quick, and simple ways I can update my favorite pieces to make them spring appropriate…. and I thought I’d share them with you today!
1. Front Knot A Blouse: One of my favorite ways to make anything look “new” + “fresh” is by tossing a knot in it…. especially a crisp white button up blouse. We all have them… they’re the perfect 9-5 essential…. make it outside of the office, or everyday friendly, by simply tying it. All you have to do is unbutton the bottom two buttons and loop them like you would in the first step of tying your shoes. Super easy, but makes things look so different. I love pairing a top like that with high waisted jeans or shorts (I also front knotted this top yesterday and it looked very different than when I just front tuck it).
2. Tie A Scarf Around It: Such an easy way to add a feminine shift to any outfit… tie it around a favorite go-to bag, a ponytail (like I did here), belt loop, around the wrist or neck…. whatever way you’re feeling it that day, it’s a quick way to make any outfit look slightly different.
3. Toss On A Wide Brimmed Hat: I’m a sucker for wide brimmed hats in the warmer months. It’s perfect for long days spent outside and covering up hair that’s a few days overdue for a wash (I mean, that’s never me…). I also love this one, that I’ve had for several seasons.
4. Comfortable Slides: Whether you’re wearing jeans or shorts, leaving the closed toed kicks at home and slipping on a cute + comfortable slide is an easy way to make any outfit a little more spring-ish (I know, it’s not a word….). I notoriously wear slides with distressed jeans + a spring knit…. or cut-offs + knits. This pair is super fun for the warmer months (cheaper, similar option), but I also bought this pair and they are seriously like walking on clouds.
That’s it…. simple + easy…. just how I like it!
