EUROPEAN ADVENTURES || Our Guide To Capri

Sharing the last of my Italy content today with our stay on the island of Capri. TJ and I visited this beautiful little island last summer when we went for our anniversary trip, and it left an impression on us so much so that we decided to spend 4 nights here. There is something so wonderful about the island because it slows down so nicely at night when all the visitors leave on the ferrys back to their various spots along the Amalfi. So when you roam the streets at night, it literally looks, and feels, 100xs different than it did during the middle of the day.

Someone sent me a message yesterday asking about where we stayed in Capri and passed along the following quote (and commented how we proved them wrong):

“The Amalfi Coast is for making babies, not taking them there…”

And while I would candidly have to agree with the former part of that statement, we found the latter part to be completely untrue. In fact, that was hands down our favorite part of the entire trip… and the girls loved every minute of our time down there as well.

As far as lodging went, we stayed at the Hotel Della Piccola Marina and it was great. We booked a larger room, so it comfortably fit all of us, it was very centrally located (I would say anything near the Marina Piccola is a safe bet), and everyone was very friendly and happy to help. There are definitely fancier hotels on Capri, and if you plan on spending a lot of time at your hotel, you might want to consider them, but we knew we would be out at beach clubs (these are much different than pool/beach clubs in Miami and Vegas… they’re all laid back, with the exception of a few that we did not visit, and family friendly) all day, so we really just needed a comfortable room for sleeping. That being said, TJ and I both agreed that staying at an AirBNB would be our choice if we return… having a kitchen, and cooking what we picked up at a local market, would be so nice (especially after eating out for 12 days already).

I’m sharing a breakdown of everything we did, by day, below. I hope it’s somewhat helpful if you’re considering a trip to this beautiful island!

DAY 1

Los Scoglio Delle Sirene Beach Club: I discovered this spot on instagram after we returned home from our Italy trip last summer and it looked like the most idyllic spot to spend an Italian summer day. It didn’t disappoint: family friendly, great swimming, and the most beautiful view of the Faraglioni rocks. We made reservations here several months in advance (that’s a must or you won’t find a spot)… and arrived around 10am to pick our spot (chairs fill up quickly)… we stayed here until 4pm and it was such a fun day jumping off rocks and swimming in the ocean….

We had lunch at the restaurant on the property of the beach club. Beautiful views and delicious food. We made these reservations at the same time we reserved our spot at the beach club. They had one of the best Aperol Spritz’s here… Prosecco > Aperol (for me haha)…. Also, we made reservations by e-mailing them. You can also have your hotel help you if need be.

Ristorante da Paolino: Such a gorgeous spot, with every single detail thought out perfectly. You basically enjoy your dinner under lemon trees… and while it is a bit of a scene, the food more than lived up to our expectations, and the dessert bar was a hit with the girls. Again, we made these reservations several months in advance. But, if you can’t get a reservation, they have an absolutely beautiful bar area where you can enjoy one of their amazing cocktails and (I think) some bites. Definitely worth visiting…. and a spot we would hands down return to on a future trip…

Then we did a little shopping- we found some cute shops in the city center of Capri- we found beautiful Capri Bell Christmas ornaments… and the girls and I got matching Capri Bell necklaces (which was really special…)

DAY 2

We spent the day on the water, swimming at various coves, touring around Capri and the coast, and had lunch at a spot we had been excited about for a while. It was such a full, fun, day…

Lunch + Beach Club at Conca Del Sogno: this spot is great for so many different reasons. The lunch was delicious, atmosphere fun, and then we enjoyed the beach club after. Highly recommend trying the scor drink- it’s their signature! We made reservations several months in advance, which I highly recommend.

Boat Tour: there are so many boat companies to choose from but we had such a wonderful experience with Plaghia Charter. They knew all the great spots to enjoy a swim and went out of their way to make the day amazing. If you choose to book with them ask for Antonio and Karim- they were awesome!

Dinner: we got back late from a full day and everyone was exhausted, so we went to a small market, picked up some items for “appetizers” and ordered take-away pizza from Trattoria Da Pasquale, and enjoyed the evening on our patio. It was such a nice way to end a busy and full day.

DAY 3

DAY 3 was our last full day of our Italy adventures, and we spent it heading into Positano and having lunch at Da Adolfo, which I can’t recommend more for lunch…. and a post lunch ocean swim. They have the best steamed muscles, and their fresh fish is delicious (so is the tiramisu). Reservations are required, and I highly recommend booking ahead of time. They’re pretty hard to get ahold of (only take reservations via phone)… we needed the boat company we used to help us out with these as we attempted to call multiple times and no one picked up.

Once we got back we walked around the shops and picked up some items for family members, and enjoyed some gelato from Gelateria Buonocore (soooo good)!
