A Slow Start to the New Year

Well, the holidays came and went—and yesterday’s 5:30 a.m. wake-up call felt a bit more brutal than usual. If you’re easing back into routine and wondering how January arrived so quickly, you’re not alone.

The start of a new year is always interesting. Open up social media and suddenly it feels like everyone is set on becoming a completely new person by this time next year. The health and wellness space, especially, rolls out a fresh promise for every resolution imaginable.

I’ve never been one to set rigid New Year’s goals, and I think that’s because I’ve always believed it’s never too late to start over. You don’t need January 1st to reset, realign, or shift course. For some, the calendar flip is motivating. For me, change has always been more of a slow build.

I prefer to wade into the waters—see how things feel, pay attention to what’s working, and then make intentional choices from there.

So this year, I’m approaching January with a sense of curiosity rather than pressure. A bit of status quo to start, followed by space to see how things naturally begin to unfold. No rush. No reinvention required.

With that being said, I hope you had a wonderful holiday season and that your New Year is off to a gentle, grounded start. I’ll be spending the next couple of days working on January’s capsule wardrobe—focused on ease, versatility, and pieces that truly support everyday life—so stay tuned for that soon.

Here’s to a slower, more intentional start to the year. ✨
_____

(Headed up to Santa Barbara the day the girls got out on break to put the finishing touches on The Bungalow…. enjoyed the decorations and unplugging… jeans, white sweater, brown faux fur bomber jacket, leggings, jacket, sweatshirt, brown satin pants (identical option), brown sweater, ivory flats, gold necklace)

(Home for the holidays where we host Christmas Eve with our favorite pot pies from Pop Pies. One of my favorite traditions for the past 10 years…)

(Back up to Santa Barbara with my entire family to celebrate my birthday and NYE… ivory jeans, sweater, brown faux fur jacket, flats, leggings, black jacket borrowed from TJ)

_______

Love these silver and navy (?? on the fence if the stripes are navy or black) Adidas Paris sneakers

I was recently asked for some resort wear recommendations… here are a few items I found….

my favorite jellie flats from last spring and summer were restocked (also love the mocha)… they’re so comfortable and I can’t wait to wear them again when temps get warmer…
this beautiful white knit coverup (I went up two sizes for a looser fit) has the prettiest low back, and I also own and love this open knit black long sleeve option for temps that might not be super warm yet…
my favorite oversized straw hat
ruffled straw bag
I don’t own but think this metallic gold sarong, bronzeish-brown knit fringe dress, chic poolside sandals, lace trim skirt (would work as a coverup and for other non swim looks), and this yellow and white printed maxi dress.
