Winter Break 2024

I hope everyone had a wonderful end to 2024. We enjoyed a full and celebratory holiday season… and it’s hard to believe the break has finally concluded with the return to our regular rhythms and routine this Monday morning.

And since I’m considering today my first day of 2025, I thought I’d share a few thoughts I put together over the break:

“Look around you. Appreciate what you have. Nothing will be the same in a year.” I’ve never been one for New Year’s resolutions or lofty goals, but this one quote stopped me when I saw it several weeks ago, and has become my motto for life. When I blew out the candles on my 40th birthday last year, I had no clue what the year ahead had in store for me. Several weeks after that, I was met with health issues (luckily not life threatening…) that permeated the entire year, and while I’m so grateful for the constants that haven’t changed, when I blew out the candles this year, so much had changed that I hadn’t expected…

And as I sat and reflected over the last several weeks, it’s change that I have the hardest time with. Change is inevitable; yes. But it’s the unknown of change that is the most challenging: will it be  good or bad… and the snowball of thoughts those questions elicit.

When I was a practicing therapist I used to use the analogy of sand in the hand to talk about control… when sand sits in an open palm it appears stable until you try to grip it, the feeling of being in control can be an illusion, and trying to maintain it too tightly can lead to frustration and setbacks… on the contrary, letting the sand flow through your hands without resistance, allows for a more fluid experience of life.

So maybe my ultimate goal is simply gratitude > control for 2025.

And with that, I hope everyone has a wonderful start to the week ahead!

_____

lululemon is having an end of season sale… this garnet colored zip up has become a wardrobe staple and I love the oversized fit. I love it paired with these mini flare leggings or high rise straight leggings (both are on sale).

I received this brown zip up sherpa coat and love it… so warm and the perfect length (more sizes here).

I have my eye on these brown adidas sneakers

This brown pullover from Vuori is so soft and easy to throw on and go…love it paired with these leggings.

I love this mid length trench from Sezane, I ordered it and think it would be beautiful for our mild winter temps we have been having. I also love this cropped trench (the lining is so cute).

And lastly, the color of these curved hem jeans from Everlane is the perfect shade of denim… these are my favorite curve hemmed jeans… the style isn’t too overwhelming and the fit is amazing.
