I’ve been in a bit of a book rut lately… opting for reruns of our favorite comedy, over the pages of the psychological thriller I purchased over a month ago. I’ve opened it, read a couple of pages, then when I hear TJ laughing at something, I get distracted and close the book. I’m determined to get back into a reading groove over the next couple of months, but until then I thought I’d share my favorite books from 2021… in case you’re in need of a new book… or need something a little motivating to get back into the pages of a good book.

And with that, I hope everyone has a good weekend ahead. I was one day behind all week, so I forgot that today was Thursday (which always beats being a day ahead…). We’re still on baby watch mode for my sister, so hoping we get to meet our new niece sometime soon!

The Last Thing He Told Me: This one is more of a “mystery” than the psychological thriller that I typically lean towards. It was a page turner, without keeping you up at night from the “thriller” aspect.

The Last Mrs. Parish: Maybe one of my top 3 from this past year. It had all the things that make good books… manipulation, suspense, and an ending that pulled it all together nicely.

Then She Was Gone: A little improbably story line, but was still a great page turner.

One By One: A favorite from Ruth Ware, and a true psychological thriller. If you have a ski getaway planned with friends, I don’t recommend reading this one (kidding).

In A Dark, Dark Wood: Another good one from Ruth Ware. About friends on a bachelorette party, lost loves, and everything unravels from there…

Invisible Girl: By the same author of Then She Was Gone… an intriguing storyline that had some great twists and turns along the way…

Malibu Rising : Maybe I liked this book so much because it’s based in So. Cal, but I liked the characters, the story of family, and how to story unfolded.

The Last Flight: This was the first book I read of 2021 and kicked off the reading streak of 2021… it’s a mystery, with a relevant story line.

Next Year in Havana: Not something I would ordinarily reach for, but my mom had read it and recommended it, so I gave it a whirl and ended up really loving it, and learning a bit about Cuban history. It’s historical fiction with a bit of a love story woven through it.

The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo : Same author as the one who wrote Malibu Rising. I love the way it’s written, the twists and turns, and the overall story line in general.
