We decided to be slightly spontaneous this past weekend and booked a week long trip to Park City on Friday evening. We found an amazing rental house, and decided that the beautiful fall colors, crisp fall weather perfect for hiking, and memories we always take away from our Park City trips would be worth the 10 hour drive.
When we booked the trip, my initial feelings were pure excitement. Then I woke up in the middle of the night on Sunday with slight dread. What had we done… what was this “adventure” really going to be like. Had we made a mistake in thinking our 18 month old (who for the last 7 months had spent a max of 20 minutes in her carseat at one time) would be able to make it 10 hours (Harper’s attention span is much longer, so I wasn’t very worried about her). I reminded myself that all adventures and new experiences have ups + downs, along with a learning curve, and that even if it was rough, we’d find a way to get through it.
We left around 7:30am yesterday morning, made 5 stops along the way (and there were some touch and go moments in between), pulled up a little past 6pm MST, and realized it was 100% worth the drive. Being from Southern California our version of fall colors is basically dying leaves on a tree… you know, the “they’re yellow with more brown” coloring. So, to drive up the mountain with the beautiful falls colors is something I never take for granted. Harper’s excitement when we got out of the car was something I will never forget and reminded me of why we love to travel with the girls so much….
So while we’re 7 months into this different way of life, and at times I’d wish the ease of life would return, I am grateful that it gave our family this experience… and the opportunity to do something we likely wouldn’t have done otherwise.
I hope you all have a great week!

I brought along my workout resistance bands, ankle/wrist weights, and weighted jumprope (20% off w/code ITSYBITSY20) to do some at home workouts while in Park City…. I also brought this puffer vest that I purchased last season for cool weather hikes.
SHOPBOP is having a a fall sale (up to 25% off) and I’ll have a full post tomorrow, but items I’m loving right now include this cozy pullover, this charcoal grey padded shoulder tee (such a cute basic), graphic tee, and this cream ribbed zip up.
The cropped white knit cardigan I bought last January was just restocked in a beautiful grey and olive. It looks so cute front tucked with jeans!
A few cute fall arrivals that are super cute include this combo sweater dress + cardigan (all 3 colors are beautiful!), tie dye joggers, casual tee bodysuit (looks comfy), + this sweatshirt material jacket (looks so soft).
I’m obsessed with this quilted *large* puffer bag! The ultimate mom bag… but this smaller bag is super cute for fall as well (still roomy!).
