Weekend Recap || 7 Simple Pick Me Ups

We were fairly routine over here this past weekend… lazy mornings, followed by workouts, time spent outside, libations in the evening, and sitting fireside after the girls went down…

I ended up waking up on the wrong side of the bed Sunday morning… likely a variety of things mixed together… and found myself compiling a list of things I could do to move myself from a place of negativity to positivity… simple activities that could involve the entire family as well (well, maybe not Camille). I thought I’d share them here with you, in case you’re heading into the week ahead and need a little “pick me up” as well.

1. Bake some cookies, banana bread, cut some flowers, write a little note, and drop it off on a neighbor’s porch…

2. Have a Zoom chat with friends +/or family. Never discount the power of seeing a loved one’s face…

3. Get outside… the weather here won’t be the nicest this week, but whenever possible we’ll be sneaking outside…

4. Watch a Christmas Movie… instant feel good…

5. Go for a drive- might not be able to get out and do anything, but seeing the places you used to frequent + just being out of the house for an extended period of time might be good for the soul

6. Give yourself grace if your house is a mess, if you are struggling to come up with meals, if you’re kiddos have watched Frozen 2 one too many times, if you feel like “homeschooling” is not going as planned, and if you’ve had several cry sessions in your bathroom. This has never happened in our (or our parent’s) lifetime, so there is not “rule book” with how best to proceed. Everyone is doing the best they can.

7. Practice gratitude… write down specific things you have to be grateful + repeat 1-3xs a week, and really lean into focusing on those aspects.

Have a good week friends!

(Decided we’d make a new refreshing cocktail, toss on some “real” clothes, and have a proper al fresco backyard happy hour…. jeans, tank)

(Pancakes for breakfast all weekend long…. love topping mine with some peanut butter….)

(Creatures of habit over here with our daily morning walks… crops, pullover, sneakers)

(Spent Saturday afternoon outside, enjoying our last bits of sunshine before the rain comes this week… played bocce ball + just relaxed with the girls…. pants, sweater)

(Saturday evening’s plans….)

(Sunday morning pancakes + forts….)
___________

If you’re looking for a few easy meals for the week ahead, we love these shredded chicken tacos. (crockpot recipe) + this vegetarian chili recipe (it’s going to be raining here, so we had this last night….).

I wore this windbreaker half zip for two of my morning runs last week and it was the perfect lightweight layer. Also loving this tie dye sports bra….

So, I told TJ we’re dressing up for Easter even though we have no where to go. A few easy Easter at home outfit ideas that I like include this breezy white dress (I bought it for our Hawaii trip and haven’t been able to wear it yet, but it’s super comfortable), this comfy tan sweater + these paperbag shorts, this puff sleeve top (own + love) with jeans.

Camille’s birthday is in a few weeks, and while we postponed her birthday celebration until May, I decided to do a little planning. It’s going to be rainbow themed. Supporting a few Etsy shops and bought this beautiful cake topper, rainbow wall hanging, and this rainbow leotard for the decorations and her outfit. These little rainbow tumblers are also super cute… not really the same rainbow tones, but think they’re adorable.

I recently tried out this underwear and I love them…. absolutely no visible panty lines at all. My new favorites to wear under leggings.

A few beauty products I’ve been relying heavily on right now include this clean self tanner + these face drops (not as clean)… along with this body exfoliator (10% off with code SHANNON10).

Everlane had a sale last week and I purchased this basic white tee + linen top. I had my eye on this sandstone jumpsuit, but it sold out in my size while I thought about it.
