Weekend Recap || Reason To Celebrate

After a wild + short week (both girls had colds….), the weekend was much anticipated. And as we approached it, I was uncertain of how it would be spent. We had a long to-do list, filled with items we’ve put off for several weeks… but we also wanted to enjoy one of the last weekends of summer. It ended up being speckled with moments of crossing things off the to-do list (i.e. purchase a new toilet, wash the cars, start the search for a new mattress….) as well as those more “special” + “reserved for the weekend” type activities….

TJ + I actually ended up heading out to a relatively impromptu date night, with reservations being made the morning of (thanks to my sister + brother in law). I always go back and forth between wanting to just veg out on the couch in comfies, or get a little more dressed up + actually make it out the door. Yet the latter won, and we headed down to the beach for a sunset dinner. When the waiter asked us if we were celebrating anything in particular, we gave the response that has become so commonplace for us over the past several months….

“Nothing in particular, just life in general.”

Whenever TJ + I get moments of uninterrupted time to ourselves, when we can just breathe, we always come back to how grateful we are for where we are…. and right now, we’re simply celebrating the fact that we’ve made it four months in the double parenthood world. That we’re still talking + laughing with one another (I think there were moments this weekend where I thought I was going to pee my pants from laughter)… and that both our girls are alive and thriving…..

The idea of waiting for a special occasion to celebrate life isn’t something we espouse… since everyday we’re given is reason to celebrate (even if there are moments within the day that aren’t….). Hope you all find something to celebrate this week!

Working on composing weekly running playlists… hopefully I’ll be able to start sharing next week!

Levi’s has some great jeans for the fall… this frayed hem pair is a favorite from last season + I have my eye on this 501 cropped pair.

BB Dakota’s new fall arrivals are spot on… cute puff sleeve tee (great basic), plaid blazer, teddy bomber jacket, and this vegan faux leather jacket.

If you have a fall wedding, I am obsessed with this beautiful floral dress … trying to find an occasion to justify it….

An item I’m looking to invest in this fall is a leather jacket… this ALLSAINTS jacket is the one I have my eye on. I bought a leather jacket 10 years ago (which was an investment), but thinking it might be time for a new one this season….

This mauve ribbed open back pullover + leggings combo looks like the perfect off duty set for fall….

Just purchased this snakeskin bodysuit for fall… love the print… and also purchased this waffle knit henley bodysuit… great for layering.

This balloon sleeve sweater is a little on the pricier side, but the style is gorgeous…. this sweater is a less expensive alternative.

This under $50 ribbed henley looks like such a great basic….

I don’t think it will ever get cold enough here to get this long faux suede jacket… but I think it’s so perfect for fall.

J.Crew is having up to 40% off… these white boots are fall perfect, this collarless sweater blazer is a great basic, and so is this tissue turtleneck.
