Biker shorts were explicitly banned in the dress code at my former place of employment. I always got a chuckle out of that one, when dress code was reviewed annually. While we had a relatively “casual” office atmosphere, biker shorts definitely weren’t something that would ever cross my mind to wear to work. All that being said, my work wardrobe followed the same rules as all my other clothes… I needed to be comfortable, and it needed to have some practicality to it. I spent most of my days driving to client’s homes, conducting sessions in client’s homes, and going to county meetings that my outfits needed to transition easily between those two environments…I kept things neutral (which worked fairly well until the day a dog, who had just run through the mud, jumped on my lap… while I was wearing white jeans….) so I could easily mix and match…
So when I saw this ribbed skirt (super soft and flattering) + open knit sweater, it reminded me of an outfit I’d easily wear Monday-Friday…. and off duty as well. You could easily wear the skirt with a silk blouse + simple gold jewelry accessories (if you need something dressier)… and a simple silk camisole in the summer months. Off duty, a hoodie, basic long sleeve tee, or a casual top (Madewell makes some of my favorite casual tops) and denim jacket will easily dress it down when paired with sneakers…..
Either way, I can guarantee you you’ll be sitting comfortably, literally, all day long… and if you have to sit at a desk, don’t you want to be comfortable??
