Weekend Recap

itsy bitsy indulgences {Thinking about Paris as we looked at our souvenir from our last trip there in April}

The weekend started with on sad note. As I was driving around on Friday afternoon, I received a text from TJ letting me know about the shootings in Paris. Having just been there several months ago (trip here), it was shocking to say the least. I’ve always found events such as those that happened in Paris to be eye opening. A reminder to live each day to the fullest, spend it with those that matter, and to find a little bit of good wherever you are. I think that last one is especially important. In the midst of all the evil, there is still good… and good people out there. I was reminded to look for this when I came across this quote:

“When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news my mother would say to me ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’ To this day, especially in times of “disaster,” I remember my mother’s words and I am always comforted by realizing that there are still so many helpers- so many caring people in this world.” ~ Fred Rogers

I have come to realize that if I stop looking for good, and if I start living my life in fear of what could happen, then I let “them” win. And, I don’t know about you, but I don’t really want “them” to win. So, here’s to a week of finding the good and living your life without fear.

friendship, itsy bitsy indulgences {Catching up with good friends over lunch on Saturday}

freshly picked moccasins, itsy bitsy indulgences {Harper’s shoe collection is on fleek}

winter sweaters, itsy bitsy indulgences {Cool and crisp Sunday calls for bringing out the sweaters: burgundy, pink, striped, grey}

As we get closer to Thanksgiving, I’m reminded of the holiday gluttony (or, indulging if you may) that will soon ensue… but this week’s Women’s Health Challenge, which is friendly for everyone… even those with a growing belly, will keep the rear looking good!

As the holidays approach, there are so many good sales that follow along. I’m eyeing a few pieces from J. Crew (where everything is 25% off) including this cardigan (thanks to my girlfriend), this fringe top, and this tartan pajama set (perfect for Christmas morning!). Nordstrom is having their fall clearance, and I’m loving this swing dress (that comes in 4 different colors, and is under &30) paired with a these over the knee boots. This cozy sweater comes in 7 different colors, and doesn’t have an ounce of itchy wool in (for those sensitive to it) and loving this sweater in taupe, when paired with these jeans, makes for the perfect combo!
