Transitional Style Part II || 6 Summer To Fall Outfits

I had every intention of putting up a Wellness Wednesday post, but then Tuesday got away from me… and then I figured I’d write it Wednesday morning… but Camille ended up not being “better” (as we initially suspected) so she was up 7 times Tuesday night-Wednesday morning (and TJ came down with the cold in the middle of the night) so I was a bit of a zombie yesterday. So wellness Wednesday next week… and today I’m sharing a few more transitional summer to fall outfits.

I based these pieces (all but one) on the items I shared in my “Fall Restock” post. I figured that since I didn’t get around to doing a full capsule for the month of August, this was somewhat similar in the sense that it’s taking closet staples and transitioning them into a new season. My first “transitional outfits” post went up last week, and as I look ahead to September’s Capsule Wardrobe (out next week) I’ll be using many of the items you see in the “summer” side of these posts. And as always, no need to have these exact pieces, anything similar/identical will work.

And with that I hope everyone has a great weekend ahead! We have our first soccer game of the season this coming Saturday morning, so it won’t be as slow as usual, but it will be nice to get the game in while the weather isn’t in the 90’s. I hope everyone stays cool and see you Monday!

SPLIT HEM LEGGINGS

SUMMER: Leggings, Oversized Top, Crochet Bag, Sunglasses, Sandals
FALL: Sweater Coat, Black Tee, Sneakers, Woven Bag

Alright so these are an easy way to elevate an everyday leggings look- and I appreciate that these come in both a full length as well as a 7/8th length (nice for petites- I’m 5’2″ for reference). You can wear them in the summer months with a cute oversized tee, front tucked, and slides and easily transition it to the fall with a longer sweater coat (I have this one in my cart- love the walnut color) and sneakers.

HALF ZIP

SUMMER: Half Zip, Cut-Offs, Sandals, Sunglasses, Bag
FALL: Jacket, 90’s Jeans, Sneakers

This half zip is a great lightweight option for summer with cut-offs (we have some upcoming morning soccer games and it will be perfect for that) and it effortlessly transitions to the fall months by swapping out the shorts for your go-to denim and layering a quilted jacket over it.

COATIGAN

SUMMER: Coatigan, Tank, Cut-Offs, Crochet Bag, Sandals (10% off with code SHANNON10)
FALL: 90’s Jeans, Shearling Mules (10% off with code SHANNON10), Woven Bag

I’ve shared this coatigan so many times over the past several years and it can easily take you from end of summer to fall by adding black denim and swapping out slides for shearling mules.

RIBBED TOP

SUMMER: Top (everything else linked above)
FALL: Booties (everything else linked above)

I love pairing long sleeve tops with shorts in transitional periods, and this top is super cute when paired with high waisted bottoms… swap out your sandals and cut-offs for booties and jeans in the cooler months and you’re good to go!

OVERSIZED WHITE BUTTON DOWN

SUMMER: Top (ITSYBITSY20 for 20% off), Shorts, Hat, Bag, Sandals
FALL: Jeans (20% off, these are super comfortable), Earrings

I’ve had this oversized white button down for a couple of seasons now and I think it’s so easy to transition into the fall season by pairing it with a cute pair of wide legged jeans and sneakers. You can layer over it in cool temps, or wear it solo during a mild fall day. Of course, while it’s still the summer season, it looks chic and classic with a pair of your favorite cut-offs and slides.

STRIPED CASHMERE SWEATER

SUMMER: Sweater, Ribbed Tank (20% off with code ITSYBISTY20), Linen Shorts
FALL: all items linked in above posts

This striped sweater is a great item to transition between seasons (and beyond). It works over the shoulders, over a tank during cool summer evenings, and then easily transitions by itself, or layered, when the temps cool for fall. It is on the warmer side as far as sweaters go, so it might work best as an over the shoulders accessory in these warm August temps. It runs tts, without an oversized fit. I could have gone up 1-2 sizes for a more oversized fit.
