I Don’t Rebuild My Wardrobe Every Summer

Every year when summer rolls around, I buy a few new things.

A great pair of sandals.

A dress I can’t stop thinking about.

Maybe a skirt, a bag, or a top that feels fresh for the season ahead.

What I don’t do anymore is treat summer like I need an entirely new wardrobe.

For years, I thought every season required a reset. New trends. New pieces. New outfits.

But somewhere along the way, I realized my favorite wardrobes weren’t built in a single shopping trip.

They were built over time.

Now, instead of replacing my wardrobe every summer, I add to it.

The white skirt I bought last year comes back out.

The black tank I wear on repeat is still in rotation.

The lightweight sweater I pack for every trip still earns its spot.

Each season, I pay attention to what I’m actually wearing and build from there.

Some pieces stay.

Some pieces go.

A few new pieces get added.

And little by little, my wardrobe becomes more useful.

That’s what this capsule is.

Not a wardrobe built this season.

A wardrobe built over many seasons.

A collection of pieces I’ve loved enough to keep wearing, mixed with a few newer additions that have earned their place alongside them.

Because for me, getting dressed has never been about owning less.

It’s about getting more from what I own.

And when you stop rebuilding your wardrobe every season, you end up with something much better:

A closet full of pieces you genuinely love wearing.
