New Year’s Eve

Sequin Skirt, New Year's Eve

New Year’s Eve. It conjures up so many different feelings for me. When I was at the prime of my college years and several years post,  ringing in the New Year with a grand fete was a given. No questions asked. Careful planning went into the outfit, people, and details. More often than not though the evening didn’t end up with the grand fanfare that was expected. Ninety precent of the time it was mediocre at best. Long lines, cold evenings, crowds, drinks spilled on those carefully selected shoes… and then the morning after… ouch. As I progressed into my late twenties and now into my thirties, I have realized that my couch is actually the best place for me on New Year’s Eve (please promise you won’t judge….). Last year, we spent it at the spa. The year before? On a beach in Cabo. The year before that year? At our family cabin in Big Bear. This year, Allison and I will both be spending it IN with dear friends. So, what is one to wear when the agenda does not include an all out fancy affair? Something that I like to call “party on the bottom, comfy on the top.” I couldn’t help but be drawn to this sequin skirt (under $50!!). Yet when I decided that it would be a night in, this comfy sweater was exactly what the skirt needed. It’s perfect for a “grown up” cocktail party 🙂 Why? Because even if the skirt only lasts several hours, the sweater will last throughout the night!
