Blushing

blush skirt, maroon top

“Faire rougir quelqu’un” ~ Make someone blush…

I like to think I have a small grasp on the French vernacular. TJ and I recently started following an instagram account that posts pretty French words and sayings regularly. Having spent a summer abroad in the South and North of France, and a few personal trips sprinkled over the past 10 years, I like to think I know more than I do. And everyday when the word pops up in my instagram feed I try to translate it before seeing the English version. Daily I am humbled.

I say all of that simply because this outfit reminds me of shades of blush and the feelings typically associated with the act of blushing: romance, love, excitement…. and who doesn’t love that?  And maybe it’s not even blushing in the romantic sense. I think of the times when I am happiest, or see my family and friends at their happiest, and there is always a soft, rose tinted, glow to them. Those are the moments I love the most… which is why I attempted to recreate it in attire form. It’s my way of bottling it up :).
