The Things I’m Still Loving For Fall

I used to do a post with all my “fall essentials,” but this year I found it more fitting to share the pieces I’m still loving for fall, from previous years. They’re probably the same thing, but this feels a bit “fresher” in my mind, so I’m sticking with it. So, what you’ll find below is a round up of “things” that I’ve basically loved over the last several fall seasons that I 100% intend on wearing/doing again… think cozy knits, deeper hues, comfortable shoes, and mixing textures…

With that, I hope everyone has a wonderful end to their week and a great weekend ahead!
_______

CHOCOLATE BROWN

I’m still loving the deep, rich, hue for fall, and plan on bringing out some of my favorites from last season. I love that it’s a beautiful alternative to black, and pairs beautifully with a full tonal outfit, or with creams, blacks, and burgundy.

A few of my favorites from last season include this oversized turtleneck sweater + pleated brown skirt (seen above), as well as this $50 cashmere sweater, oversized cardigan, chocolate brown kitten heel booties, polo cap, and this beautiful dark brown coat.

MIXING TEXTURES

Silky pant with a soft cashmere sweater, leather pants with a chunky knit, cashmere with suede… I love mixing textures to create dimension to outfits…
(silky pants, cashmere sweater, faux leather pants, cashmere sweater (same as brown one above))

COZY FALL DINNER PARTIES

I love a summer get together, but equally so a cozy fall gathering by the fireplace is just as nice. I bought this beautiful tablecloth last season and pulled it out last weekend for the fall transition. I love the deep burgundy so much.

DENIM ON DENIM

I love a good tried and true denim on denim outfit for all seasons, but especially in the fall. The denims don’t have to match, or they can, and I love breaking them up with a belt. For fall, it’s easy to create texture with this easy combo by tossing a sweater over your shoulders.
(Top (also love this darker wash option as well as this one), Jeans, Belt, Boots, Sweater)

SLIP ON LOAFERS/CLOGS

I’m still loving the slip on clog style… with my favorite clog coming from Quince (so comfortable), but I also appreciate the elevated look of the slip-on driving loafer. Both offer a laid back, casual feel and look cute with so many different bottoms.

SILKY PANTS

I am loving silky pants for an elevated and super comfortable outfit… I’ve worn them in the summer season, but for the fall you can effortlessly toss on an oversized knit or coat for a laid back look.
(Ivory Silk Pants, Top, Jacket, Black Silk Pants)

DARK NAILS

I love a good light pink, almost nude, nail for the summer season… but once fall hits I opt for deeper hues. Last season I fell in love with this chocolate brown (a true brown, with no purple undertones) color, as well as this deep burgundy shade (both press on). I just re-purchased the brown for my first fall “manicure” (if you call it that, haha) of the season.

OVERSIZED SWEATERS

This is something I love year after year… there is something that exudes elevated casual with the perfect oversized sweater… laid back, effortless, and easy to throw on and go. Jenni Kayne reigns supreme in this arena, but when you size up in Quince items, they can give you a very similar oversized fit. A few of my favorite oversized sweaters include this cocoon style, porter oversized turtleneck, basic crewneck seen above (this one is tts oversized… I have it in grey and I’m eyeing it in in brown… of course), and this ribbed turtleneck sweater (I own this in the wine color and went up two sizes for an oversized fit…).

EVERYTHING COMFORTABLE

If it’s comfortable it likely has my name written all over it…. extra points if it’s part of a matching set and wide legged. Over the past two seasons, my favorites have been the Varley DoubeSoft Wide Leg pants (I have them in black, ivory marle, portabella, and now the olive green color) and any of the tops in corresponding colors, as well as the Vuori Halo Wide Leg Pants (another item I have in multiple colorways… they are so good). Neither pair stretch out or lose their shape, but are a 20/10 on the comfort scale…

CHILLY MORNING HIKES

After months of sweating on outdoor hiking trails, there is something refreshing about a chilly morning fall hike… and I don’t think I’ll ever tire of them. We don’t live somewhere where the leaves change in the fall, so I love a cool morning beach walk, but when we visit cooler places morning hikes are the first on my “to do” list.
(Leggings, Vest (another option))

SUEDE

Whether it’s a simple suede accessory, like a shoulder bag or loafer… or a beautiful suede jacket, I’m all for it this fall season.
(Suede Jacket, Suede Bag, Jeans, Sweater, Loafers)

GREAT BASICS

Good basics are the crux of my wardrobe, and over the past couple of years I’ve found a few tried and true fall ones that I return to when the temps start to cool. This long sleeve ribbed tee is a basic I found several years ago and always include it in my cooler month capsule wardrobes (spoiler alert, I own it in multiple colors). I also love this simple pointelle sweater long sleeve top (I have it in ivory). I have also invested in this beautiful v-neck cashmere sweater (which looks great dressed up or down) over the past couple of years (I have a couple of colors) and it’s such a wonderful staple… the perfect weight.

OVERSIZED LEATHER JACKET

A good leather jacket is always a staple in my wardrobe, two seasons ago I found myself gravitating towards a more oversized fit. I have this one from Madewell, and the jacket above, from Quince, is an excellent option as well!
