Having been born and raised in California, there are many areas that hold a special place in my heart, one of those places being Santa Barbara. From countless childhood memories, to the more recent ones made with our girls, it’s a little slice of California that always makes my heart happy.
Two years ago, on one such visit, TJ started to look at Redfin houses. We both thought out loud, more in passing than anything, about how amazing it would be to own something in the area. And each subsequent trip we took, that desire grew bigger and bigger. On our most recent visit, back at the beginning of January, TJ stumbled across a 1930’s bungalow for sale. It was situated on one of our favorite streets in the coastal Montecito area, a few blocks from the beach and within walking distance ot many of our favorite local spots. We drove past it on our way back home, and fell in love with the exterior.
Over the past 8 weeks we did copious amounts of research, worked with a realtor, received outside opinions from those we trust, and just this past weekend, received the keys to that little 1930’s beach bungalow. One of those moments where your dreams become a reality.
Over the next several months, we will be renovating the interior and exterior grounds (we love the facade of the home, which will remain the same)…. and will have it up and available to rent starting June 2025. My hope is that others can find the same joy, and create lasting memories, as we have over the years, in one of our favorite places.
I’ll be sure to share progress here, but in the meantime, I’ll be sharing and documenting much of it on the home’s instagram page, @theitsybitsybungalow… as well as tips and guides to the Santa Barbara area in general.
And with that, I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and a nice start to the week ahead! I’ll have March’s capsule wardrobe up this week!

Varley has the prettiest new arrivals for the spring season… I love this doublesoft black dress, this taupe lightweight jacket (bought this one and wore it all weekend…), open knit zip short sleeve zip through, beautiful pleated shorts (elastic backing for comfort), and this doubleshoft jumpsuit.
If you’re looking for comfortable pants for any spring travels 3 of my go-to pairs were recently restocked:
The Varley Wide Leg Pant: This is made from their doublesoft fabric, is a heavier material, and silky soft on the body. Doesn’t sag or lose it’s shape and n the 28″ it is short gal friendly.
The Halo Essential Wide Leg: This is a medium weight fabrication, and very soft as well. I love that the material doesn’t sag or lose it’s shape.
The Villa Wide Leg Pant: This is made from a lightweight material and great for travels, since it’s fairly wrinkle resistant. I wore these on our 10 hour flight to Europe last summer and were still looking good enough to go from flight to sightseeing. I wear these in the “short” size.
If you love the drop waist dress style, I purchased this one and it fits beautifully. I have the cream, but it also comes in several other colors.
I love this red linen dress for a spring break trip…
My favorite pair of wide leg ivory jeans are 30% off! They’re short gal friendly, but if you’re taller they’ll be a cropped fit.
Quince has some great linen pieces, at good prices. I have these linen shorts (5″ inseam) and matching top (long sleeve option), as well as these linen pants (28″ inseam option) in my cart…. I live in linen in summer.
