We’re heading out of town tomorrow, to Santa Barbara for the long weekend, and I’ve got the girl’s stuff all packed, but I’m still figuring out my outfits. I have this black eyelet top packed, along with this sweatshirt, striped tank and that’s all I have so far (which is rare for me… but the unseasonably cold weather has thrown me for a bit of a loop….). And while I don’t have all my outfits planned out, I do know that every single one of them will likely involve a pair of jeans.
I love what a good pair of jeans can do for an outfit. They can make it feel laid back and casual, or elevated and dressed up… and everything in between. They pair well with any top and any pair of shoes. I actually used to hate shopping for jeans. Being short it was always so difficult… jeans were always too long (still are) and it just never felt as if they fit right. Once I sort of found my sweet spot with jeans, it became a non-issue for me. I love a good straight legged jean (dappled in the wide legged style in 2022 and enjoy that as well), don’t mind a bit of distressing (but also realize it has a time and place), and appreciate the frayed hem look, since it makes getting the perfect length that much easier.
So, as we approach the spring season, I decided to round up some of my go-to pairs of denim and how I style them for the spring/summer season ahead. I hope it helps if you’ve been on the hunt for the perfect pair of jeans.
And with that, I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend ahead. If you’ll be enjoying a few extra days off for the President’s Day holiday, I hope you are able to take advantage of a little extra rest and relaxation. See you Tuesday!

The AGOLDE 90’s loose fit jeans are hands down my favorite pair of denim for the spring and summer seasons. I think it has to do with their loose fit, casually distressed finish, and overall laid back feel to them. I don’t love them with sneakers, which is why they go into hibernation in the fall and winter months, but once it’s sandal weather (and I’ve cleaned my toes and heels up a bit…) they come back into heavy rotation. These run oversized and loose… I had to go down two full sizes to get the fit and feel that I wanted from them.

The DL1961 Patti Straight Leg jeans are a newer favorite that I purchased a few weeks ago. I was on the hunt for a slimmer straight legged, cream, pair of jeans and these fit the bill perfectly. They have the perfect amount of stretch to them and are also a beautiful cream shade, which contrasts nicely when pairing them with a pure white top (which is the look I was going for). I can’t wait to wear them with oversized white button downs and some of my favorite tanks in the summer months. If you own any of the Hepburn jeans by DL1961 I went up one size from my regular size in those.

I ordered the AGOLDE Riley Jeans for the same reason I ordered the cream jeans- I was looking for a slimmer fitting straight leg jean, that was in between a skinny fit and a 90’s loose fit. These fit the bill perfectly… and I didn’t have to hem them, which was sort of amazing since they have this beautiful raw hem that would have been ruined had I needed to alter the length. They can be dressed up, or down… as you can see above I wore them to Disneyland with sneakers and wore them with black ballet flats for a lunch date with TJ. They have a similar fit to the 90’s pinch waist style in that they are 100% cotton, so they have zero stretch to them. Yet, they do stretch with time. These were very snug the first time I wore them (to Disneyland) but now that I’ve worn them several times they’re fitting a bit looser and are heading into that “perfectly worn in” look. So, I recommend going with your regular size on these.
(Oversized Button Down, Sweater, Bag, Ballet Flats (for my feet these took a bit of wearing in))
The Austin trouser pant from Sézane is such a fun pair for the spring season. While I’ve only paired it with cardigans so far, I can’t wait to wear them with some of my favorite tanks. They’re a bit more elevated from basic denim, and I love the lettuce waistband. They look good with flats, sandals, and sneakers as well (I’m working on getting a post up with other ways to style these…). They run true to size as well.
(Bodysuit, Cardigan (SHANNONP15 for 15% off or another option here), Flats (you need to wear these in a bit))
I purchased this pair of AGOLDE 90’s jeans in white (the black distressed pair here) last February, and wore them so much in the spring and summer last season. They have a different fit than the loose pair, as they’re a bit more fitted around the waist and legs. They’re a great straight leg jean, and I own them in howl, and a denim color-way as well. They are 100% cotton, but I took my smaller size in them (I’m typically between 2 sizes)…. fitted and snug at first, but after several wears they stretch out and you don’t want them to stretch and be too baggy and loose (not fun….).
(Ribbed Tank, Black Tank, Cardigan (other option above), Veja Sneakers, Crochet Bag, Straw Bag, Cap)
The DL1961 Wide Legged Crop jeans are a year round favorite over here for so many reasons. First, they look good with any shoe you select- sandals, high tops, low tops, flats. And two, the wider legs gives them a bit of an elevated feel- you can easily dress them up or down depending on how you choose to style them. This fall and winter season I was all about wearing them with my favorite high tops, but I can’t wait to wear them with sandals and tanks this coming spring and summer season (see all black image). They have the perfect amount of stretch to them as well, making them very comfortable. I own them in black, white, and the vintage color.
(Tank, Sandals, Bag, Quarter Zip)
I’ve loved the AGOLDE parker denim shorts for years, and when they made the longer inseam option, I became even more hooked. They are, hands down, my go-to pair of denim shorts for the spring and summer season. I have them in white and black as well, and they fit so well (I got this pair 2 years ago and took my smaller size in them as they did run big… I’m not sure if sizing has changed).
(Tank, Bag)
The Madewell perfect vintage jeans are a great black jean if you want a non-distressed, high waisted, slim straight leg fit. They have a bit of stretch, which makes them comfortable from the first wear. I got mine a couple of years ago and they can easily pair with heels, flats, sandals, or sneakers for the spring and summer seasons.
