Fall Style || A Workwear Fall Capsule Wardrobe

When I began my traineeship in grad school, I needed a wardrobe update. Not for classes and everything else, but for my sessions with clients. Jeans were only permitted if they were in a dark wash, and they really wanted the attire to be business casual. That was pretty much how all my jobs post-graduate school were. So when I went to look for pieces to wear to work, I really tried to make them versatile enough that I could them out for other facets of my life: a pretty top to wear on a date night/girl’s night out, shoes that worked across occasions, and pants that, if they couldn’t be jeans, could somehow be dressed down for other settings…. for the most part, it worked, and it made shopping for work attire much easier…

All that to say, now that many people are either back in offices, or in some sort of hybrid setting, I figured I would put together a fall capsule wardrobe for the workplace. I tried to select pieces that could transition across settings, and that were versatile enough to carry you across seasons with some simple swaps here and there. In hindsight, I probably would have added in this sweater dress (taupe), polo dress, as well as this charcoal striped top, but I do think the below pieces are a great starting point for the 9-5 capsule collection.

I also pulled a few pairs of flats and heels that I think would pair nicely with these items as well.

Flats: love these day glove flats (I’ve had them for 4 years now), these perforated flats (camel cap-toe is beautiful), and these Gemma Mules
Heels: D’Orsay Pointed Toe Pump (lots of great, versatile colors), Sling-back black mule (or these), and these Leopard sling-back heels

I also included 30 outfit ideas below. I hope it’s helpful!
_____

(Striped Sweater | Slip Dress | Silk Cami | Trousers | Ruffle Collared Top (for shorter torsos, obviously not thinking a crop would work in the work place haha) | Plaid Blazer | Silk Blouse | Black Blazer | Cashmere Tee | Black Trousers (but if you want a more streamlined pant, then this slim fitting pair would be great) | Striped Dress | Skirt (Wrong color for skirt, should be Camel) | Silk Blouse | Sweater Tank | Sweater Blazer)
