We were on a bit of a documentary kick for a little while… finished “The Tinder Swindler” (on the suggestion of good friends), then moved onto “Raw Sugar,” and finished “Inventing Anna” this past week (this was more of a docuseries about actual events as opposed to a documentary). All fascinating… but it’s time to get back into reading. I’ve realized that watching TV so late gets my mind going, and then when it’s time to go to bed, it takes me a while to unwind. So I think I’ll be starting “Watching You” by Lisa Jewell tonight…
Books + documentaries aside, I’m sharing a roundup of my go-to shorts for the spring and summer season below, along with a few thoughts as to why I think they’re great basics. I also have this pair in my cart… and I’ll be sure to share them styled here if I purchase them….
And with that I hope everyone has a good weekend ahead! It’s Camille’s birthday tomorrow (our little Earth Day baby), so we will be celebrating with family this Saturday and the weather is supposed to be nice, so we will probably be out by the pool at some point.
See you Monday!
(Oatmeal Shorts, Striped Shorts, Linen Top, White Top is sold out, similar option, Cardigan)
I love these linen shorts… I purchased the oatmeal color 3 years ago and they’re still one of my go-to favorite shorts season after season. They’re lightweight and go with just about anything. I am wearing my regular size in the oatmeal color and went up a size in the stripe pair… and if you’re looking for a looser fit to your shorts I’d size up, but if you like a less baggy fit I would go with your regular size….
AGOLDE PARKER SHORTS, VINTAGE + LONG LOOSE FIT
(Shorts, Tank, Similar Sandals, Bag)
(Shorts, Tee, Cardigan, Scrunchi)
(Shorts, Tank, Necklace + Anklet (20% off this weekend with code SHANNON20))
The Parker AGOLDE Shorts, vintage + long loose fit were a new style last season and they quickly became my favorite. They have a longer inseam, and a looser fit, so they’re overall really comfortable and long enough that I can comfortable bend down, and don’t feel like my bottom is hanging out. I sized down in all 3 pairs, since I found them to run a little a big…
SEZANE PAPERBAG SHORTS
(Shorts, Sweatshirt, Bag, Sunglasses, Diamond Disc Necklace)
These are a new this season pair and I love them… the style is different than a traditional cut-off and they feel a little more refined as well. You could easily dress these up for a warm dinner during the summer months with a pretty blouse and sandals. I found them to run a little big, if you can, I would recommend sizing down.
MADEWELL MWL SHORTS
(Shorts, Sweatshirt)
I purchased these to go with one of my favorite sweatshirts and I’m so happy I did. These are a great lounge short for the spring and summer months, and can easily work over a one piece swimsuit as well. I took my regular size in these.
MADEWELL PULL ON SHORTS
(Shorts)
If you’re looking for an alternative to denim, but don’t want a lounge short, then these Madewell pull-on shorts are a great option. They have an elastic waistband and pockets, but the material makes them a nicer than loungewear option. I purchased them last spring and have already worn them a few times this season. I’m wearing my regular size here, and at first they were a little big, but after one wash they ended up shrinking enough to be a perfect fit.
LOU + GREY SIGNATURE SOFT SHORTS
(Shorts, Top, Coatigan, Sandals)
Lou + Grey’s Signature Soft collection is so soft, and this pair of shorts is not exception. I got them back in 2020, and still reach for them when I want something comfortable and soft. I went with my regular size on these.
