In between baking cookies and our evening adventures to see the Christmas lights, Camille fell late Tuesday afternoon and ended up breaking her collarbone (hairline fracture and she’s well on her way to getting better). We made a fairly late night ER visit that evening, which had everyone feeling stressed and frazzled come Wednesday morning.
In those moments of frenzy, you realize how much you rely on your regular routine and structure to provide your family with stability. My parents came over after we called them, and took Harper to their house for a sleepover… and while she welcomes any and all opportunities to spend the night at Nana + Diddy’s house, when it’s under stress, I know she feels it too….
So while Camille was off physically, I could tell that Harper was feeling the effects emotionally…. attention diverted to caring for Camille, being thrown off of her regular routine, and feeling worried for her sister… I started to notice some acting out behaviors that were out of the norm….
It’s funny how as much as we try as parents to find a perfect balance between children, sometimes we just don’t get it right. So this past weekend, I knew what Harper needed. Solid + quality attention from TJ + me. We decided that the “family movie” idea we had for creating a festive and fun holiday at home for the girls would be the perfect time spent together. We moved the furniture out of the way, made a delicious dessert board, put a fire in the fireplace, closed all the blinds to make the house dark, and we all cozied up on the ground to watch “The Grinch.”
It was an activity that only required our time and attention and one that Harper continued to talk about the rest of the weekend. The simplest activity with huge impacts…
I hope you all have a great week ahead!
(Hot coco, Christmas pajamas, and a car ride around town to look at the lights…. joggers, pullover, vest)
(Made a festive cocktail to kick off the weekend, recipe coming Thursday! pants, pullover, glasses)
(Movie afternoon with the entire family… along with a few sweet treats….)
(And then some adult time…. love this conversation starter game….)

If you’re looking for some cute fitness gear to gift, I love this leopard workout tank, and these lustrous black leopard leggings… and for men, these black joggers (great running material), and this pullover (works for lounging too).
If you have a new momma in your life, I can’t recommend giving her the gift of time to giver herself a few hours to take care of herself, but if you want to gift something tangible, I recommend this plush chenille blanket for cuddling with baby, beautiful hooded towel for baby, these unisex moccasins (I’ve used these with both the girls), button down sleep shirt, and this cute plush fleece bear romper.
For someone who loves spa + beauty, I always recommend these CBD bath bombs (15% off with code SHANNON15), this bathtub caddy (I have this and love using it!), swiss foot file, facial steamer (love mine!), as well as Necessaire skin products (10% off with code SHANNON10) and base coat nail polishes (I started using them and love them… especially the matte top coat).
Socks are always a fun stocking stuffer gift idea… I love these ribbed cashmere socks (they’re on my list), as well as this two tone pair. For guys, TJ loves these Stance no-show socks (I’ve been wearing this brand for 4 years and they’re great for working out too).
I love this super soft vest…. and think it would be such a great cold weather staple… also love this oversized henley pullover (would look super cute with leggings).
