After a week spent in what felt like very high anxiety due to the election, it was nice to go into the weekend with zero plans and just allow the days to unfold. We did our usual morning breakfasts of pancakes + breakfast burritos and then spent time outside with the girls, watching election results, speeches, and then football by the fire, and then more Sunday football at my parents….
Rewinding a bit to last week though, I had one day that was particularly heightened with anxiety and I remembered the grounding exercises I used to give to my clients to help them become more present and in turn reduce their anxiety. I wanted to share it below for anyone else who might find it to be helpful!
GROUNDING PRACTICE
I always prefer to just stop where I am and look around the room, or environment, and then I ask myself the five questions below:
What are 5 things you can see ?
What are 4 things you can touch?
What are 3 things you can hear?
What are 2 things you can smell?
What is 1 thing you can taste?
I’d say about 90% of the time I can feel myself becoming more present, less centered on situations out of my control (a huge root of anxiety), and able to then follow this up with relaxation breathing to round it out.
I hope this is a good week for everyone!

(Spent most of the weekend indoors because of the rain and the girls loved this resin alphabet letter set (shannon15 for 15% off))
(Made the weekend feel a little festive with a charcuterie board and vino…)
(How our couch looks 75% of the time….)
(Busted out our warm coats for a nice and chilly weekend… shacket, joggers, hoodie, girl’s jackets, lounge set)
(A hearty + warming chicken and rice soup for Sunday supper…)

Bloomingdale’s is having a gift card sale and some of my favorite items are included like this faux leather puffer jacket, Jamie AGOLDE jeans, SPANX faux leather leggings, and my Commando faux leather joggers.
Some lug boots I love for fall include this white pair, snakeskin pair, and I’m kind of loving these chocolate brown studded chelsea boots.
We’re taking our family photos sometime this week and I finally decided what we’re all wearing… I bought this camel slip dress, the girls are wearing these tutu dresses, and TJ is wearing these black jeans + a crisp white button down. I have these faux fur vests for the girls from last year.
Love these cute plaid pajamas for the girls for Christmas.
I was on the hunt for a shacket a couple of weeks ago and ended up getting this ivory one and love it- it’s so comfortable.
I’ve had my eye on this ribbed half zip and think it would be super cute for fall and winter. This half zip is also a really cute option as well.
