The other day I got to thinking about the last time I wore jeans for longer than 2 hours (…yes, I realize there are much more pressing + important issues to think about right now… my mind just wandered and needed a break from them…)…. and I think it was the last time TJ + I went out to dinner (which was 3 weeks ago) and I ended up having to unbutton the top button after eating. I came to the conclusion that I’ve grown so accustomed to the jogger, legging life that I wasn’t quite sure how I felt about a button waist again….
Which only inspired me to eventually put together a post on “denim alternatives…” which really speaks to me… a post full of my favorite joggers, sweatpants, + leggings that don’t leave you looking like you hopped out of bed, but instead leave you feeling pulled together, laid back, and oh so comfortable.
Ahead of that post, enter these ribbed black cropped pants. They’re chic, different than my go-to joggers, and have a very laid back feel to them. Of course, before I fully committed, I put together outfits in my head and below are the ideas I came up with (… and more will come over time I’m certain….). They’re great for WFH, lounge at home, playing with the kiddos, and TBH I would have likely tried to wear them in my 9-5 therapy job back in the day (see the look with the white mules + striped top for how I would have pulled that off)….
A couple notes about sizing that I want everyone to be aware of. First, they’re pretty high waisted and it’s a thin waistband, meaning these don’t have a thicker, drawstring waist like most denim alternatives I share. They run true to size, but if you’re shorter like I am I did end up hemming them about an inch just to get them to hit right above the ankle for the cropped look that wouldn’t crop my already short legs. Hope that’s helpful!
Now back to thinking about those more pressing life issues…. have a great day everyone!
