Happy Friday everyone!
I guess it’s that time of year again… the Nordstrom Anniversary sale. My approach to the sale this year is the same as it has been over the past several years…. I look to purchase items that I can wear now and in the cooler months… but also try to focus my shares on items I personally own + love. There are a lot of my go-to basics included in the sale, so if you’ve had your eye on any, or are in the market for some, this is a always a good time to stock up…
This year, given that our Nordstrom stores are closed, I did all my shopping on-line. So the items I purchased won’t be arriving until next week… so I can’t really share/attest to their quality, fit, and comfort level. Yet, I was really mindful of the items I did decide to purchase, and I explained my reasoning in the below text…
Hope it helps if you’ll be shopping it this year… AND, more importantly have a great weekend everyone!
_________
ITEMS I OWN + LOVE
ZELLA 7/8 LEGGINGS: These were a purchase I made at the sale last year and they’re the best. High waisted, stay put when you workout, and they have both a side pocket on the leg + one in the back for your keys/phone. They’re functional, and friendly for those who are petite as well. I’ve worn them for my long runs, spin sessions, walks, cross training, and everything in between. Such a great basic black workout legging… I find them to run tts.
UGG COZETTE SLIPPERS: I was super excited to see these included in the sale, mainly because they’re one of my most worn items, daily. I love that they’re opened toed and have a slight platform on them. I’ve had them since May (of 2019) and they’re still in great shape. I highly recommend these for life around the house…. especially if you don’t like your feet getting too warm.
SPANX FAUX LEATHER LEGGINGS: I first bought these two years ago when I was pregnant… and they’re still a staple for me every fall/winter. They’re excellent quality, so for sure worth the price (I’ve had mine for two years and they’re still like new). They have a high waisted fit and are snug, so I do recommend sizing up. They are also on sale in the petite length as well (which I would have purchased had that option been available several years ago). If you’re looking for a cool weather closet staple these are a great option.
SPANX ACTIVE BIKE SHORTS: If you’re looking for something that you can wear now in the summer heat these are one of my go-to pairs of bike shorts. They were a purchase from last year’s sale and are still in great shape (and I wore them a lot last summer). They fit very similar to the faux leather leggings, just in a short style. They also have a back key pocket for your keys if you go out for a run wearing them and need some place to put your keys… I do recommend sizing up in these.
LIVE IN HIGH WAISTED LEGGING: Alright, so I’ve had these for 5 years now and they’re a great everyday black legging. Excellent price point and fit, you can wear them for running errands or for hanging out around the house. I will note though that they aren’t as soft as the lululemon align leggings… so if you’re going to super soft, these aren’t for you.
TOMMY JOHN SECOND SKIN LOUNGE PANT: I got these last Christmas season and wore them all throughout the winter + spring season. They’re super soft and I love the fit… they have a nice waistband that doesn’t get all funky and they’re super comfortable to sleep in as well. If you want something super soft + comfortable for lounging around the house + sleeping then I highly recommend them! They fit tts. I also want to add that I own the jogger pants from Tommy John and they’re a great option if you don’t want a wide leg lounge pant!
TOMMY JOHN LONG HENLEY: This henley goes with the lounge pants- well, it doesn’t have to, but I pair them together and they’re the comfiest duo. As I mentioned, I sleep with the pants in the cooler months and when it’s particularly cold, I sleep in this top as well. It’s lightweight and not super warm so I stay at a great temperature when I sleep. It’s a waffle knit material so it could also work with jeans as a layering base. Runs tts.
Free People Leo Henley: Another purchase from last year’s sale and a great closet basic… you can wear it with shorts for a cooler summer evening… with jeans, joggers, or leggings in the fall. It’s an oversized fit (so size down if you want it more fitted)… but an all around great top that I highly recommend.
FREE PEOPLE TURNT BODYSUIT: I got this at the end of winter for date nights… but then we couldn’t go on date nights so I haven’t worn it much. BUT, it’s amazing. It’s a heavy, slinky, material that hangs beautifully on the body. It has a deep v in the front, which you can pin together depending on how deep you want it to go (I use a black safety pin). It looks great with jeans and fits tts.
GORJANA CRESCENT PENDANT NECKLACE: If you’ve been following me for a couple of years then you know this has been a favorite for a long time. I got it right after Harper was born and it’s a longer necklace that layers beautifully with my other jewelry pieces. It comes in gold and silver.
CLARE V. LEOPARD SIMPLE TOTE: I bought this in November last year and took it on all of our winter travels… and also used it as an everyday tote bag… it easily fits my computer, a cosmetic bag, phone, wallet, water bottle, a pouch with some of Camille’s necessities, and a couple of toys. It’s so beautiful and well made. If you were eyeing it from last season and are looking for a stylish everyday (larger) tote bag then this is a great option and the sale price is good!
SWEATY BETTY STAMINA SPORTS BRA: I bought this sports bra two years ago at the Nordstrom sale and it’s such a great sports bra for support in high impact activities. It was my go-to sports bra when I was nursing as well. I went up one size because it is pretty fitted.
ALO AIRLIFT LEGGINGS: Possibly one of my favorite pairs of non-black leggings… they lift and just look so good on everyone. They’re high waisted, stay put when you workout, and I love this olive shade (I have them in a blue and pink…). A few things to note if you’re considering: they don’t have a pocket for a key (I wish they did…), and they will show some sweat (that doesn’t really both me). They also run tts.
ZELLA SPLITS RIBBED TANK: I bought this at the sale last year and it’s a great basic ribbed workout tank. Pairs well with high waisted leggings. I went up one size, since it is a shorter fit.
ADIDAS ULTRABOOST RUNNING SHOES: Another pair of shoes I was super excited to see included in the sale. These are my absolute favorite running shoes. I’ve gone through 3 pairs (and will be buying these since they’re a great marked down price) and they feel as if you’re running on clouds. They are an investment, so if you’ve been wanting to try them, and are looking for a good running shoe, I highly recommend them. I sized down in my first two pairs, but on my third I wished I had gone with my regular size. So, I’d say size down, but it looks like they’re making them more tts now.
MADEWELL KENT CARDIGAN: I have this cardigan in two colors, and I’ve had it for several years now. It’s super soft, a longer (mid-thigh) length, and is a great cardigan for lounging around the house, or however you want to wear it. Lightweight as well. Something to note- it does pill, like with most cardigans made of a super fine wool material, so I use one of those sweater shaver tools to get the pilling off.
HUNTER RAIN BOOTS: I’ve had a pair of Hunter Rain boots since before Harper was born and they’re the best. Super sleek, for a rain boot, and very well made. They last forever, and when we can travel again, they’re really easy to pack in a suitcase.
BRIXTON STRAW HAT: I always love a good hat, and I’ve had this style for about 4 years now. I love that this one is all a neutral tan color, without the black band.. makes it so much more versatile. The hat is very well made… not a flimsy straw material so you can pack it up and know that it will likely retain it’s shape. I do find it runs big as far as hats go.
Necessaire Body Lotion + Soap: This is being sold as a duo and I am obsessed with this brand and the products they produce. They’re non-toxic and feel so luxurious on the skin. I love the Eucalyptus scent.
T3 Blow Dryer: It took me a long time to invest in a good quality hair dryer but once I did I noticed two things. One, my hair dried much quicker and two, my hair was less damaged. I’ve used this one for 4 years and can’t recommend it more if you’re in the market.
ITEMS WE OWN AS A FAMILY
THULE DOUBLE GLIDE RUNNING STROLLER: This stroller is so good if you’re looking for a family, double, running stroller, It glides beautifully + the carriage space is amazing (much bigger than the BOB… we can fit so many things in it). Harper is 4.5 and she can still fit in it, although she is getting a little tall for it now. It reclines easily and both girls seem to really enjoy it.
MAXI COSI 3-1 CONVERTIBLE CAR SEAT: I bought this two years ago at the sale, for Harper, and we are still using it to this day (her version goes up to 70lbs, this one I believe goes up to 100lbs). I will be purchasing this one this year for Camille since she needs to change carseats.
UPPABABY VISTA STROLLER: Our go-to everyday stroller, that easily grows with your family, is included in the sale this year. I can’t recommend it more. We’ve traveled with it for years (I recommend the travel bag), have used it regularly, and it’s still in amazing shape. It’s easy to collapse and just an overall beautifully made stroller. Harper loves the scooter board attachment.
COMOTOMO BABY BOTTLES: I’ve raved about these for years as our go-to baby bottles, and I continue to recommend them to those that ask. They are the only bottles Harper would use and Camille took to them seamlessly. Super soft and easy for them to hold as well. They’re sold as a bundle during the sale and it’s a great deal.
EZPZ FIRST FOODS SET: We used this placemat with both girls when they first started solids and I highly recommend.
LUXE BABY BLANKET: If you’re looking for a super super soft blanket to give as a gift or for your little one, then this is it! So soft and warm for them to cuddle with you and use for years to come!
ITEMS I PURCHASED + WHY
TORY BURCH SLIDE SANDAL: Since Southern California doesn’t get cool until late October (at the earliest) I am easily wearing sandals well into fall… I love the color + style of these sandals and think they’re an easy thrown on and go to head out for errands.
ORGANIC COTTON JOGGERS: (these sold out in my size before I was able to purchase them, but I will continue to watch for a restock) Since we will be home for the foreseeable future, joggers + loungewear are still at the top of my list. I love the neutral color or these as well.
FP Undertow Tank: I’m always looking for good workout clothes, and they’re always at the top of my list for the sale. I love this knotted tank and think it will be great for spin classes, walks, and will look cute with high waisted leggings. I bought the grey color…
NIKE AIR MAX SNEAKERS: I love Nike for my cross training shoes (walks, HIIT workouts, hikes) and the color and style of these is so cute. I always have a pair of non-running shoes so that I don’t wear out my running shoes on non-running activities.
MOON RIDE LONG SLEEVE TOP: I think this top looks so cute and comfy for post workouts or for lounging around the house…. it can be worn two different ways, so I consider it a 2 for 1! I bought it in grey.
POWER STONE BRACELET: Despite the fact that I’m living in loungewear, I still like to wear some of my favorite jewelry to feel pulled together. I love the black + gold style of this bracelet and it will seamlessly fit in with my other items.
BAREFOOT DREAMS LOUNGE SET: I wanted to get this , but it sold out in my size. Anything BD is so so soft so I thought it would be perfect for the fall and winter. I’ll be keeping my eyes open for a restock.
NIKE CREWNECK SWEATSHIRT: Another great post-workout, running errands, lounging around the house option… and always a sucker for a tan/beige color.
ALLSAINTS DALBY LEATHER JACKET: All Saints makes my favorite black leather jacket and I had my eye on this shade last season. I’m still waiting to decide if I want to purchase it since I’m not sure how much I’ll wear it in the coming cool weather season. So, I have my eye on it and highly considering.
GLITTER HIGH TOPS: I considered purchasing these shoes, but then I realized I had a low top pair nearly identical. BUT, if you are looking for a fun pair of sneakers, that look like Golden Goose sneakers, then these are a great option.
