Hard to believe tomorrow will be May Day… and that Mother’s Day is a mere 10 days away. I literally feel as if it should still be March. I’m hit or miss with Mother’s Day gift guides. Mainly because I feel as if every mom is so unique, and you, as the daughter (or son…), knows her best. And, given the financial climate of everything this year, I know some individuals won’t be able to gift their mothers something wrapped (because, usually time spent with them is all they really want)….
So this year, while I still compiled some simple gift ideas, I tried to include “experiential” options as well. Gifts that are giving of time together… a shared experience to create long memories. Whether you’re gifting wrapped packages this year, or opting for the experience, I hope it can be somewhat of a guide for this Mother’s Day.
**I had a couple requests for Mother’s Day ideas for the self, so all items included would be pieces I’d love to receive as well.
_________
POTTED FIDDLE LEAF PLANT: I love The Sill, have several of their potted succulents around our house, and think they make a beautiful, lasting, alternative to fresh flowers. The pots can come in various colors and the plants are excellent condition (and come packaged so well). I’ve had mine for over a year, so the actual plants are quality. An experiential alternative to this, if your mom loves gardening, would be to buy her some beautiful seeds + maybe a rose bush along with a “Save The Date” to plant them together when the “safe at home” orders are over.
PAJAMA TOP + SHORTS: I personally own these and they’re so soft + perfect for sleeping. They keep your body nice and cool, and feel so comfortable on the body. They have a very luxurious feel to them and I think they would make a wonderful gift option for yourself or mother. Experiential alternative: a night together, in comfies, where you watch movies together and just hang out… mom’s always love just being with their girls.
JUTE WINE TOTE + GILDED WINE GLASS: And of course, pair those two with a bottle of wine. The wine glasses are an absolute favorite of mine, and my mom loves them too. So fun for spring + summer entertaining… and cute glasses make everything taste better (well, not really, but you know…). If you’re wanting to go the experiential route, try a bottle of her favorite wine and let her know you’re planning a picnic, or happy hour hosted at your house, once you’re able to get together again.
SUMMER SLIPPERS: Since no one wants sweaty feet in the summer, these slippers are a great choice for the spring/summer months (well, I actually wear them year round….). I’ve had mine for a year and they’re super comfortable and easy to just slip right on for some at home hangs. Lots of cute color options as well. I know I include these on so many gift guides, but I really do think they’re great.
PLUSH PONCHO TOP + PLUSH SHORTS: Huge fan over here of the Lou + Grey Signature Soft collection, I’ve included their sweatsuit seat in my holiday gift guides… so when they released their spring + summer set it was a natural fit. I actually purchased this set last spring, right after I had Camille, and fell in love with how effortless and easy the pieces felt together. Another set my mom has as well… we both live in it.
COVER-UP: This is a cover-up that works effortlessly for anyone. I’ve had the white one since last summer… you can wear it fully buttoned, front knotted, or front tucked into denim shorts. It’s easy to wear in your backyard for those warm water days, or a perfect item to pack if you, or your mom, is traveling anywhere (later of course). Experiential option: a day together at the beach, lake, or river when they open up again.
MAISON DU SOIR ROBE: This is such a beautiful, full length, robe to make getting in the morning feel like a spa experience. I bought mine back in September + wear it every single morning. There are so many beautiful color options here…. and they are made by a woman who is local to Los Angeles.
DAINTY INITIAL NECKLACE: I have this necklace, with both girls’ names on it, and don’t ever take it off. It’s dainty + so special… but can also withstand the tug of curious baby hands. This is also a beautiful, dainty, bracelet with “mama” in the middle. If you’re looking for something similar for your mom, simple hand prints in clay with your kiddo’s tiny hands could be a really special option for her! Or maybe even a special framed photo of the first time your mom ever held your little ones.
EQUILIBRIA CBD PRODUCTS: If you’re looking for something for your own personal health + wellness, the Equilibria CBD products, possibly a subscription service, are a wonderful option. They have had such a huge impact on my sleep, and I’ve had many women tell me the same. I love their brand because they allow you to have access to a dosage consultant who can help you find the correct amount to take to meet your health needs (it really is a balance of finding the correct dosage to notice a difference). They launched a Mother’s Day box that comes complete with a bath bomb, roller, and bath soak…. a relaxing spa day at home. Code Shannon for 15% off first order.
LOVE + LEMONS EVERYDAY: This cook book is chalk full of absolutely delicious plant based recipes… good for the tastebuds and health. If your mom loves to cook, then this a beautifully photographed option. A great experiential alternative would be to cook her favorite dinner for a special “at home” quality time together.
JANESSA LEONE MICHON HAT: Janessa Leone hats are a wonderful investment if you’re looking for a hat to reach for season after season (I’ve had two of her hats for over five years….. and they still look brand new). This one has a brim that’s wide enough to comfortably cover your face and the white is beautiful for spring/summer.
NECESSAIRE BODY CARE: I’ve been using Necessaire body products since December and have absolutely loved them. They’re non-toxic and have a very luxurious feel to them. I’ve been loving the spa experience the Eucalyptus scent adds to my daily getting ready routine. Can’t recommend these more. 10% off with code SHANNON10.
BEEK GALIATO SANDALS: Beek makes some of my favorite, investment, sandals and I’ve been wearing them for the past several years. They came out with a new style this season, and this beautiful pair is on my list. They look super comfortable and great for everyday life. They’re also a small business, created by two women local to the Orange County Area.
