We’re in the process of trying to get some kind of organizational system in our master bedroom closets. I had absolutely no idea how expensive this could be…. and nearly had a heart attack after our first quote. Needless to say, we’re getting multiple bids. That being said, when I went to the design consultation (this is not nearly as fancy as it sounds) the woman asked me how many pairs of shoes I owned. I randomly threw out an estimate and she let me know that the average woman has around 40 pairs of shoes…. and then I saw a meme over on instagram that read like this:
Summer Me: I’ll just we the same pair of sandals every day
Fall Me: I need snake print boots, cowboy boots, combat boots, thigh high boots, leopard boots, slouchy boots, white boots, snow bo—
You get the picture. So, while I am still wearing many of the shoes I bought last season, I have made a few new purchases here and there…. so I decided to do a full roundup of my personal favorites for this cold weather (that largely depends on where you live….) season…..
(scroll past collage for descriptions)
SNEAKERS
Tretorn Leopard Sneakers (neutral colors): Tretorn has always been one of my favorite, über comfortable, pairs of shoes. I’ve had the white pair for over three years and they are absolutely comfortable enough for all day wear…. they feel as if you’re walking on clouds. They’re under $80 and very well made.
Reebok Classics: Love this throwback shoes… another pair that is comfortable enough for all day wear and under $70. I found these to run a little large, so I recommend sizing down a half size (I’m typically always a 6.5 and went down to a 6).
Golden Goose Sneakers: These are an investment sneaker, but if you’re in the market I recommend them (although, I will tell you that the Tretorn shoes are more comfortable). I always recommend going with a neutral color in these, since they are such an investment…. I bought a pair 3 years ago and still wear them to this day… they are a worthy investment that holds up over time.
FLATS + MULES
Leopard Birdies: These are incredibly comfortable (7 layer sole) + well made. I’ve worn them with joggers, jeans, and they can easily transition to the office. I love the leopard print, but there are so many different color options as well. I found them to run a half size too small, so when I sized up it took away the ankle pinching.
Everlane Day Glove Flat: I bought these about two years ago, when they were first released, and love them. They mold to your feet and are super comfortable. Perfect for a work environment as well. Again, I recommend going up a half size… my regular size felt a little too snug for my liking.
Sam Edelman Linnie Mules: I bought the white pair of these last year and wear them all the time. They literally go with everything and I find them to be super comfortable. The camel color was an addition this year and I think the color is great for fall…. I am partial to the white color way though. I find them to run tts.
Gucci Princetown Mule: If you’re in the market for a splurge, or something to add to a wishlist, I got these two years ago as a gift and love them. They are a bit extra but easily work for everyday and evening. Super comfortable as well.
Ugg Cozette Slipper: These slippers are so comfortable…. I got them right after Camille was born and wear them all the time (around the house). In thinking about Christmas gifts, these are an item that I’m considering purchasing for a few family members… several color options as well!
BOOTS + BOOTIES
Sam Edelman Snakeskin Bootie: A snakeskin pair of booties was on my list for this season and I love that these are easy to slip on (zippers on both sides) and they’re casual enough for everyday wear. On a scale of 1-10 for comfort, they fall on the lower end, around a 7ish, just because there isn’t any padding. I ended up going up a half size since the toe bed is a tad narrow.
Sorel Kinetic Caribou Boot: These are such a comfortable outdoor shoe. I was recently asked to share my thoughts on these vs. the M. Gemi Alpi boot (see below). So the Sorel boots are, as I mentioned, a great outdoor shoe. I would wear these for errands, casual activities, and hikes (I wore them hiking in the snow last year). They hold up super well, and incredibly comfortable + warm, and love the more urban fit. I found them to run TTS.
M. Gemi Alpi Boot ($60 off with code SHANNON60): Alright, so these are akin to a combat boot. Heavier lug sole, pebbled leather, and I would NOT wear these for hiking or any activity that required rigorous activity. I would wear them for daytime wear… errands, park with the girls, a nice brunch/lunch…. they fit TTS and if you’re wanting a more feminine combat boot I recommend these. Love the camel color (but there are multiple colors) + the sherpa lining at the opening… both make for a more feminine look to an otherwise masculine shoe. Here is an almost identical, less expensive, option.
White Day Booties: If you’re looking to try the white bootie trend this season, I love these. Well made, super soft, comfortable enough to wear all day, and the slight heel makes them a tad dressier and work appropriate. I went up a 1/2 size (as I typically do in booties) and found them to be very comfortable.
Steven Impact Boots: Chestnut color boots are my favorite for the cooler months. I feel as if they look so rich in texture and they look amazing with outfits. These come up to the bottom on my knees and look amazing with jeans. I plan on wearing them for some family photos with a midi/maxi dress. The heel makes them a little dressier, but I love it!
Jennifer Studded Combat Boot: I have my eye on these. A very traditional combat boot… but I love the mauve color. I’m trying to figure out the best way to style that color and if I can I just might consider purchasing them. But, if you want a black color, this pair looks super chic!
