Wellness Wednesday || My Current Clean Beauty Routine

A couple of years ago I began the process of cleaning up my skincare routine. I started with my facial products, moved to deodorant, and most recently decided it was time to make the shift to cleaner makeup products. As much as I’d like the process to move quicker, it takes time. Mainly, it simply takes time to find products that provide the same results.

When we got back from Hawaii I realized I was out of my foundation and thought it was as good a time as ever to begin making the change to cleaner makeup. I posed the question, over on instagram, as to what everyone’s favorite “clean” makeup products were and so many new lines, that I’d never heard, of were suggested. I’ve had a lot of fun trying out these new products, and find that they do, in fact, give me the same results. I haven’t made the switch fully, mainly because I want to finish out the products I have, and because I’m still searching for the “right” concealer, mascara, bronzer, and blushes… so when I do find them, I’ll be sure to share….

What I’m sharing below is my morning + evening skincare routine, along with my everyday makeup routine, and the “clean” products I use, and swear by. So if you’re looking to make the switch I hope that this is helpful…..
(Also, see below for more reader suggestions!)
__________

MORNING FACIAL PREP

Herbivore Botanicals Jasmine Green Tea Toner: I start by spritzing this on my skin + rubbing it in.
Summer Friday’s CC Cream: I’ve been using this product for about two weeks now and have noticed a visibly brighter, and more even, complexion. It’s lightweight + blends so nicely.
TULA Rose Cooling + Brightening Balm: I use this every morning and it truly works to brighten the under eye area, all while giving it a cooling sensation…(20% off all TULA with code Shannon20)
TULA Revitalizing Eye Cream: I then use this eye cream over the cooling balm… I find it to be a great primer for my under-eye makeup.
Herbivore Botanicals Pink Cloud Rosewater Moisturizer or TULA Day + Night Moisturizer: I go back and forth between these two products and fine them both to work equally as well in giving my face good daytime moisture. I do find the TULA to be a little more intensive, so if your skin is on the dryer side this might be better for you.
Mala Prayer Rose Quartz Facial Roller: After I apply all of my products for the morning I go over my face with the rose quartz facial roller. I find that it de-puffs + gives my face a little extra glow.

MAKEUP

Ilia True Skin Radiant Priming Serum: I’m not a huge fan of primers, mainly because I felt that they left my makeup looking too heavy (probably just never found the right one), but this priming serum does exactly what it says. Lightweight + leaves the skin looking radiant.
Lawless, Woke Up Like This Foundation: I shared about this product in my “Favorites” for August, but I use it anytime I wear makeup. For my skin tone + complexion, it has a beautiful finish + I love that it’s full coverage while feeling lightweight + looking natural.
Supergoop Setting Powder: Another item I chatted about in my August Favorites post, but this setting powder gets the job done and I love that it has SPF45 in it… also sets my powder without undoing any “natural” or “dewey” look.
ILIA Illuminator Stick: After my setting powder, I use this illuminator stick + this liquid highlighter to give my complexion a glowing effect. Both work great.
Ilia Eye Shadow Pallet (color: warm): I’m obsessed with all the beautiful colors in this pallet… they easily work for a subtle daytime look, but can also give you a more dramatic evening look as well.
Ilia Lip Gloss (Peek-A-Boo): I top it all off with this nude lip gloss which gives me just the right amount of color for a natural look.

EVENING ROUTINE

OSEA Ocean Cleanser: I’ve been using this cleaner for about a year now and I love it. I’m a huge fan of the entire OSEA line of products, but the cleanser is gentle on the skin + removes my make-up without leaving my skin dry.  All OSEA products have a natural, spa-like, smell to them which I really like (and I don’t like smells in products).
BeautyCounter Countertime Mineral Boost Hydrating Essence: I’ve been trying out this Beautycounter line for a few weeks (on + off) and of all the items I’ve tried (as of right now) this one has been a product I reach for frequently. I apply it after I cleanse my face. It’s a milky consistency and I find it really enhances the moisture in my skin. I use it in place of my daily toner, since it seems to be working as well, if not better.
TULA Illuminating Serum: I apply this again….
OSEA Algae Oil: Out of all of the products listed here today, I think I might have to say that this is hands down, my favorite. I used this oil a lot a couple years ago, but for some reason when it ran out and I forgot to order more, I just picked up a new product and forgot about the oil. Then, several weeks postpartum, my face looked awful. It was dull looking, dry, and just blah (such a wonderful word choice….). I decided to order some and see if it worked…. and it did. Within about a week or so my face looked healthier, more supple, and had a nice glow.
TULA Eye Cream: I round everything out with the same eye cream I use for daytime.
Goop Glow Microderm Exfoliator (c/o): This is a newer addition, over the past six weeks. I love the gentle consistency and the subtle glow I can noticeably see when I wake up in the morning. I use this 3 times a week. I also mix in the TULA exfoliating mask as well… another great option.

BODY PRODUCTS

Kopari Coconut Milk Lotion: I’ve been using this lotion for months… it’s lightweight, not greasy, and reminds me of being in Hawaii.
billie Body Wash: I’ve been using this body wash for a couple of weeks now and have been super happy with how it leaves my skin feeling soft + smooth. It has a beautiful fresh grapefruit smell to it, which I really enjoy.
billie Shaving Cream: Identical smell to the body wash, this gives me a super close shave and leaves my skin feeling moisturized.
Native Deodorant: I wrote an entire post on natural deodorant last year…. and I’m still using the Native product. I’ve had a few issues with is postpartum, but now that my hormones seem to be leveling out it seems to be working as good as ever now. I highly recommend the product.
