Family Life || A Backyard Campsite

Happy Friday friends! I feel as if this was one of those weeks where there was something a little wild in every. single. day. But hey, the weekend is here, and it’s time for some fun (not #cliché at all…). It’s funny, whenever I think about the weekend, I always want to have something fun planned. Something that we can look back on Sunday evening and think “That was a weekend well spent….” TBH though, with a baby, and a toddler, sometimes getting out of the house just seems like too much work. And when I reflect on my childhood, some of my fondest memories were made in my backyard…. climbing on our swing-set, swimming in the pool, playing tag, + roasting s’mores by the fire-pit. Given that, we’ve been trying to build home grown memories in our own backyard this summer season….

We decided a few weeks ago that it would be fun, for Harper, to put together a mini campground in our backyard…. to set up a tent, roast s’mores, cozy up in sleeping bags, and to just watch the sunset + stars from the comforts of our own backyard. So Wednesday evening, TJ got to setting up the tent (which is part of the Ozark Trail equipment collection)…. and last night we were able to take full advantage of it… with Harper already begging to sleep in it overnight (I’ll let TJ handle that one….). Towards the end of the evening, she was running around in circles + singing about how much fun she was having (not sure how much of that was sugar induced by the s’mores though….).  I guess that’s the beautiful thing about toddlers… the littlest things so often put the biggest smiles on their faces. And while I know she’ll remember all the trips we’ve taken this summer… I have a feeling the most heartwarming memories will always be the ones we make right at home….

Since neither of us brought any camping gear into the marriage, we had to start from scratch. For that we checked out Walmart’s selection of Ozark Trail equipment. The selection was robust + at such great affordable prices. TJ + I had a blast picking out the items we felt would make this evening a special one for Harper. With everything from tents to sleeping bags + wine tumblers, we easily found all the items we were looking for solely from the Ozark Trail equipment line. Harper loved her little Ozark llama sleeping bag (she actually opted to take it inside and sleep with it), and I can’t wait to take the cute Ozark mugs + wine tumblers to the beach and our cabin in the local mountains. Everything is excellent quality and will last for seasons to come.

So if you’re wondering what we’ll be doing all weekend long, just know it will in some way, shape, or form revolve around this little family tent! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
