When I was in high school, one of the most anticipated events was going shopping for the formal dances. Thankfully, as I moved through the four years, I progressed out of the full on princess-corest-full skirt trend and moved into sleeker dresses, which were slightly more refined (I mean, as refined as one can get at 18). As I reflect back on some of those later dresses I return to a sleek red number and pink low back dress… which were both made by Laundry and two of my favorites. They made a subtle statement without the need to be over the top.
Now that my formal days are over (at least I was able to stretch them out a few more years into the sorority formals of college) and most of our friends married, I often find myself wishing for the days when I would get all dressed up and celebrate. Yet, instead of simply wishing I could wear that new dress and get dolled up, I create occasions where I can. A simple post church brunch. A day out with TJ. Or an early evening glass of wine with a friend. I love that simple shapes can be dressed up or dressed down with the right accessories. I opted for this brightly colored number for a casual brunch with TJ and Harper. We headed to our favorite little spot at the beach and indulged in good food… and, since Mother’s Day is rapidly approaching, I plan on picking out a little dress for that occasion too! A few favorites include this white lace dress, blue and white jersey dress, and this coral colored shift. You really can never go wrong with a cute dress, right??
Also, did you catch the Mother’s Day giveaway over on instagram? You could win $750 to Laundy, which would include your choice of 1 bathing suit, 1 cover-up, 1 dress, 1 beach towel, and 1 pair of sunglasses! It’s a perfect way to spoil yourself or the special woman in your life! Be sure to enter here (open to US residents only, entry through instagram only).
