A Night on The Town With The Bump & Boo

When we found out that I was pregnant, I worried about how my fatigue levels might impact our love of exploring and traveling. I was blessed that it affected none of that, and so when we began to discuss the idea of a baby-moon (very early on) we came to the conclusion that a few smaller getaways might be better than one big trip. Part of the decision was because most of the places we wanted to go (i.e. Cabo, Greece…) were nixed by the doctor, and the other part was because we knew that there was still so much to be explored within a 300 mile radius of where we live.

Enter Los Angeles. A city known for decadent dining, opulent living, and a vibrant cultural experience. Being in need of a fancy night out prior to Harper’s arrival, we decided to head up the freeway (sorry, freeways, plural… you know what I mean if you live in So. Cal), and take advantage of WP24 by Wolfgang Puck (and want to return to check out Ford’s Filling Station.) I opted for a fitted sweater dress and leather jacket, paired with my favorite studded pumps to meet that “fancy” requirement I was going for.

We opted to dine atWP24 by Wolfgang Puck. Situated 24 floors up, the city-light views were spectacular and made for a romantic dinner setting. We were able to enjoy pre-dinner cocktails in the lounge (well, a delicious Pear mock-tail for me and a Chimay for TJ) while taking in the city views.

After great conversation and a spectacular sunset, we headed into the main dining room. The soft lighting and hanging lights set the perfect mood for an evening of reconnecting, reminiscing, and looking excitedly into the future.

Being in my third trimester, my appetite has become voracious, so we opted for not one, but two appetizers (I guess that appetite is something men get too??). The Maine lobster spring rolls were delicious, especially when immediately followed up by the crystal chive dumplings (filled with Alaskan King Crab, shrimp, and pork)… I could have eaten a whole plate of them. WP24 restaurant, itsy bitsy indulgences

As if those weren’t enough to fill us up, we opted to split the whole roasted duck. The last time we had duck was on our trip to Paris, so this seemed like the perfect dish to reminisce over…. and it didn’t disappoint. Rich, tender, and bursting with flavor… and I just loved the little biscuits it came with to make the tiniest, personalized sandwiches.

It was such a beautifully romantic evening, set above the city lights, that I couldn’t have imagined any other way to celebrate our past and exciting future together! And since a little celebration always calls for decadent dessert (and champagne… but, you know…) we couldn’t resist the Vietnamese tort…
