Having only been back from Europe for four days, I was already longing for the leisurely lunches filled with delicious food and delightfully refreshing Sangria. Since it was a beyond pleasant weekend in So. Cal, I decided to whip up a batch of homemade Cava Sangria (recipe here from Bon Appetite) to share with the family over photos of our recent journey. The intent behind Cava Sangria, as I learned in Barcelona, was that it is traditionally saved for celebratory occasions (as opposed to the Red Wine Sangria). I like to celebrate just about any minor occasion, so I felt that being reunited with the family after a fourteen day hiatus was the perfect way to enjoy some celebratory Cava. The drink is light and refreshing enough to enjoy at a summertime weekend bar-b-que, bridal shower, or simply a relaxing Friday night (I mean, you did make it through five days of work, that’s worth celebrating in my book!).
