Weekend Recap: Anniversary Celebration

IMG_9236{Hiking Torey Pines}

This weekend could not have come soon enough. With TJ out of town the first few days, as well as my parents and sister…. I was flying solo for a few days (and nights). Boy were those looooooong. It’s funny. I always appreciate the help I receive, but it’s often when it is absent that I feel the power of help (or I guess lack of) the most. In that light, TJ and I celebrated our 6 year wedding anniversary Sunday (my 5 year marriage reflection here) with a trip down to our old stomping grounds, San Diego. We stayed at one of our favorite hotels (L’Auberge Del Mar) and went through our typical anniversary traditions (bottle of rosé champagne,read our affirmations to one another, and listened to our wedding song). Only this year things were different. Harper was in tow. It’s amazing what a difference a year can make… let alone 6 years.

We were 26 (me) and 28 (TJ) when we got married… and now being 32 and 34, I can’t believe how far we have come over those 6 years. I can remember times in our marriage where it felt like we were so far from some of our goals. I remember frustrating times and so many highs. Traveling together (Paris being our favorite). And now our biggest adventure, navigating parenthood. While that has had its own series of frustrating moments (like at 2am there wasn’t much love…) I couldn’t imagine this journey with anyone but him. So, this past weekend, we said “Cheers” to many more years filled with adventures!

I’ve said it before (as in, last week), but stipe tops receive an A+ in my book. I’ve rounded up a few that will be perfect for this Spring season! I love this back button option, simple off the shoulder piece, oversized top in golden brown stripes (such a fun alternative to navy and white), and this fun twist with ruffle sleeves. I’m also in search of the perfect espadrille for Spring. My eye is seriously in love with this stipe pair (yes, stripes…), this cognac wedge pair, this lower platform denim option, this chic white studded pair, and because I always love a good sneaker… these are the perfect balance of the two! A few other fun Spring options include this chunky open back sweater (serious love), boater hat, white tee with a fun twist for layering, and a chic faux leather jacket (under $100 and 3 different colors… I love the brown and blushing).
