(Friday morning’s sky was beautiful…)
We spent this weekend as we have the past several weekends, except this time we were able to enjoy the gloomy, rainy, weather… which lent itself to some cozy evenings in spent by the fireplace….
And while I have truly appreciated this time spent at a slower pace, safe at home, and with more quality family time, there was a point last week that I felt emotionally burnt out, sort of as if I’d hit a wall (and if I feel that way, I can only imagine how those who are front line workers must be feeling).
When I started reflecting, and thinking back to last March, I had a little chuckle. I remember thinking to myself, “How on earth will we be able to stay at home, doing nothing, for a month?” And now here we are almost ten months later. And what I realized in that reflecting is that the end is always the hardest….
The end of a long flight…
The end of a long road trip….
The end of a long wait….
The end of a half marathon….
The end of a recovery from an injury….
And while I know we’re not necessarily at “the end” of the pandemic, with the vaccines becoming available, it feels as if we’re so close. Which is maybe why last week felt particularly challenging…. the end feels near… but we still have a some time to go.
Then I stumbled across this meme from Brandon Kyle Goodman:
I told my friend that I’m emotionally “hitting a wall” and she said “Sometimes walls are there so we can lean on them and rest.”
So if you’re heading into the week, feeling as if you’ve hit a wall, maybe it’s a sign to take a moment and rest. I hope everyone has a good week ahead!
