Favorite Things || April + May…. Books, Clothes, Wine, Recipes….

The week after vacation gave me a run for it… with little miss being sick, and catching up on things that got neglected when we were gone, made for one week. You can say I’m excited for a big ol’ glass of rosé tonight! Sharing with you some of my favorite things from the past several weeks…. and hoping you all have a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend! Happy Friday! xx
_____

FOOD/HEALTH:

1. Perfect Bar: I’ve featured these before, but they just released two new flavors that I seriously can’t get enough of. They’re the dark chocolate chip peanut butter with sea salt (pretty much tastes like cookie dough) and the dark chocolate almond. Absolutely delicious. Little miss is a fan too. I get mine at Whole Foods, Sprouts, + Mother’s Market…. I’ve also seen them at select Target stores.

2. Kale Chips: They’re so easy to make, but sometimes I’m just lazy and want something super quick. I actually stumbled across these at the airport heading to Cabo and grabbed a bag. Surprisingly, little miss was a fan too. They’re pretty basic… but if you want something crunchy and salty they’re a great healthy option.

3. OLLY Vitamins: I’ve been taking the beauty ones for a little over a year now, and I started taking the belly vitamins recently as well. They’re a blend of pre and pro biotics and help maintain healthy flora in the gut. I’ve been really happy with them so far… and they taste good too (that’s also an added benefit, right??).

4. Chimichhurri Sauce: I made these tacos over on insta-stories the other night and I received a lot of questions about how to make them. I subbed sweet potatoes for fingerling ones and thought they were just as good. These were a major hit in our house. A great vegetarian meal if you’re looking for a meatless Monday option.

5. Miraval Rosé: Last Friday night TJ and I did a rosé taste test, and this was my number one pick (which I wasn’t expecting… it was a blind test). It was light and crisp… which is exactly how I like my rosé.

6. The Perfect Stranger (I didn’t know where else to put this!): When I finished All The Missing Girls I immediately knew I wanted to read another book by the author. This one has already started off so good… I seriously can’t wait until evening rolls around so I can end my night with it!

Beauty:

1. Hydrating Facial Spray: I took this spray down to Cabo with me and was obsessed with the hydration is provided my skin. I loved the smell too…. super fresh.

2. Resurfacing Gel: I wrote about this new product in last week’s Mother’s Day Gift Guide, but I’ve been loving this product so much it deserved a spot here today. I use it twice daily, after my morning shower and after I wash my face at night. I then apply this serum. It leaves my skin feeling soft, smooth, and with a slight glow. You can get 20% off with code SHANNON20.

FASHION:

1. White Slides: Every year I go on the hunt for a pair of white summer sandals and this year I stumbled across two great options. The double strap pair has the slightest heel…. which I think allows it to be pretty versatile… dressed up or down…. and at my whopping 5’1 (5’2 on a good day) frame any extra height, without compromising comfort, is welcome. They also come in the prettiest light pink shade. I also love the profiled slide sandal… the small details with the edge notching make them casual and perfect for daytime. Both are comfortable, both run TTS, and both will be on heavy rotation in these warmer months.

2. Joggers: Always a sucker for comfort… and joggers fit the bill perfectly. I’ve had my eye on this pair, and when they showed up in the light pink color I had to have them. They’re thick enough to be appropriate for everyday living (read: you don’t look like you’re wearing pajamas out…), and the detailing makes them look almost like pants. I find them to run on the larger side, so size down.

3. Basic Tank: We all need these staples in our closet. Whether you’re heading to the office, or just hanging out at home… or heading to a casual lunch… a good basic tank is an easy throw-on-and-go option. I bought this one at the end of last week and when it arrived I immediately wore it the next day (as in yesterday). It’s so soft, with a slight stretch to it… and such a great price point ($18….). I just might have to get the black and white too. I ordered up one size (to a small) because I wanted to be able to front knot it and the sizing was perfect. I also snagged this tunic tank as well… I wore it en route to Cabo, as well as a few days over the past few weeks. It comes in several color options and is the perfect slouchy fit. You can’t go wrong with either of them. Promise. FYI, I wear this bralette and this one under them… love when a little lace pokes through.

4. Lightweight Lace-Up Sweater: One of my favorite finds this spring season…. when I found it, it was the only one on the rack, and it was two sizes too big. I didn’t try it on, but decided to give it a try and hope that it would look “oversized chic” and not “oversized sloppy.” It was a win. I wear it all the time… with shorts and jeans… and it could easily pair with a skirt as well. It’s currently 30% off, making it under $35. If you want it to fit slouchy I recommend sizing up.

5. Ruffle Sleeve Tee:  I had my eye on a ruffle sleeve Current Elliott top for a few months, but couldn’t bring myself to spend $110 on a basic top (with quality that I wasn’t sure was much better than some of my other basic tees). So, when I stumbled across this one in blush and this one in white, both combined under the Current Elliott price, I was sold. They’re super comfortable, well made, and the ruffle sleeves add the cutest feminine touch. Easily pair with shorts, jeans, or front knot with this cute maxi floral skirt.

6. Tie Front Tank: I bought this tank to workout in and have been wearing it for almost all of my workouts (I wash it frequently….). It has a muscle tank cut to it, so it airs nicely during all those Tone It Up workouts. I love that it’s not so basic and can easily be worn leisurely as well.

7. Studded Sandals: I know I’ve posted these in so many different styled blog posts, but they are seriously the best block heel I own. I’ve been eyeing this designer pair for a couple of years, but when I saw these, I couldn’t pass up the price…. they’re super comfortable and I can easily run after little miss in them (trust me, I did at brunch last weekend). They come in three different color options too.

8. Distressed Tee: Anyone who loves distressed jeans will love this tee… and this tank for that matter. I own both and the fit is perfect (the tank is much more oversized). I toss them on with all my favorite jeans… and with said joggers above. Not for the work place, but perfect for the weekend. Wear them with the bralettes I chatted about above and it’s a perfect edgy-feminine look.
