Day to Night Fashion:

I already posted about my past weekend celebrating the anniversary with the hubby (if you missed it click here). Well, since I am such a proponent of weekend get-aways I decided to do a fashion post on how to pack for a weekend getaway at a resort. Hope you enjoy!

Look 2: Top: J Crew (sold out similar at Forever 21), Shoes: J Crew (similar) Pants: Shopbop Jacket: OLD… but love this one from Forever 21 Ring: David Yurman

Whatever you choose to do this weekend, I hope you have fun dressing up! It’s a little indulgence I can’t resist!

Lookin’ Green!

I think it goes without saying, but whatever you’re doing for St Patrick’s Day, I hope you’re planning on incorporating SOME green into your outfit…unless you’re looking to get pinched! Shannon and I have pretty different plans for the green holiday, which means our dress codes differ pretty significantly. To share some ideas with you all, Shannon decided on a fun brunch piece, and I chose an edgier, going out outfit (holla single ladies!) Check out what we each decided for our respective St. Patrick’s Day celebrations:

{Pants: J Crew (sold out, similar pair), Top: J Crew, Shoes: J Crew, Purse: Rebecca Minkoff, Bracelets: Nordstrom,

J Crew, Anthropologie (sold out, but similar one here), Sunglasses: Chanel}

{Top: Bloomingdales Aqua ; Pants: AG Jeans; Boots: Nordstrom; Headband: Jcrew-sold out, but similar here; earrings: David Yurman }.

What are your plans for St. Patrick’s Day?? Whatever they are, hope you don your green proudly and avoid those pinches!

Peplum, Floral, and Bows!

Outfit 1 (Steal): Top: Nordstrom, Pants: Forever21, Shoes: Nordstrom

Outfit 2 (Splurge): Top: Tory Burch, Pants: J Crew Shoes: Shopbop (I absolutely LOVE these and they are so comfy!)

Thanks for reading!

One Shirt, Four Ways!

Let’s face it, I LOVE TO SHOP! I don’t discriminate…. I’ll do it on-line (desk-top, iPhone), in stores, through a catalogue…. you name it, I’ll shop it. In full disclosure though, I’ve made some pretty bad purchases. You know, those purchases where it seems like an I-can’t-live-without-this-piece moment, only to go into your closet 6 months later and the item has been worn one time because there really isn’t much for it to go with. So, I try to follow a rule…. if I can’t find four different ways to wear it, I have to think carefully before purchasing. Now, don’t get me wrong, I still fall prey and buy things that I really don’t have much to go with, but it’s not as often!

Shopping the other day at J Crew, I found a beautiful blouse and immediately knew I could wear it more than once, and with more than one piece in my existing closet! See for yourself below!

Professional Indulgences:

My recent advancement into the practicum phase of my graduate program comes with a host of new demands and requirements. However, I think it’s important to try to take every opportunity I can to turn these new demands into an opportunity for growth, and most of all, fun! That being said, one of my favorite new requirements is the dress code-strictly professional and classy. That can only mean one thing…shopping! Who says professional, business-attire clothes have to be drab and boring? No thank you! I think that, often times, what we wear and how we present ourselves outwardly to others is a reflection of who we are and how we feel about ourselves on the inside. Therefore, it’s important to me that I present myself the way I want others to perceive me-happy, warm, and professional. Here’s a look at how I execute that:

{Top: Forever 21; Pants: Banana Republic; Bracelet: Tory Burch; glasses: Coach; Handbag: Nordstrom}

{Top: Target; Skirt: Banana Republic; Handbag: Louis Vuitton; Shoes: Franco Sarto (found at DSW!)

Hope you all can find a way to incorporate fun and personality into your daily garb!

Some Favorite Indulgences:

We come to Monday again. It’s always a real struggle for me to get into the Monday mind frame. I am often left with thoughts of fun weekends and the ever hopeful thought, “Is it Friday yet??” So I revert to my tried and true “change your thoughts, change your attitude,” perspective. This week has a lot in store… baby-sitting my adorable little nephew on Wednesday night, a surprise Valentine’s Evening planned by the hubby, and a delicious Greek meal at our favorite little Greek restaurant on Saturday evening. As I thought about my favorite indulgences from the past week, I of course went in the Valentine’s direction, and compiled my favorites in colors of red, white, and pink.

{Red Halston Heritage statement bag to add a pop of color to any outfit… and my two toned nail polish in OPI colors “Comet Loves Cupid” & “Pink-ing of You”}

{One of my favorite red wines is a Drizzle from BYRON winery up in Los Olivos, Ca}

{Statement bracelet from J  Crew and an amazing red lipstick for a night out!}

{Strawberries and raspberries as an afternoon snack…. super foods packed with vitamins and loads of health benefits. Raspberries are jammed packed with fiber and contain cholesterol-lowering agents and Vitamin C. Strawberries provide tons of potassium that can aid in reducing the risks of stroke and promoting healthy blood pressure.}

{I treated myself to one of my favorite flowers: Tulips. Looking at them brightens my mood!}

I hope you enjoy a week of balanced indulging… whether that be  by/for yourself, someone else, or a group of friends!

Last Friday afternoon the hubby and I got the travel itch. We get this often and nine times out of ten act on it. Our motto?? YOLO! We weren’t sure where we wanted to go, but knew we didn’t want to drive too far and wanted to be able to relax. We decided to head up to Santa Ynez, which is nestled just east of Santa Barbara. It’s about a 2:45 minute drive from the Orange County area, so it feels just far enough to get away from it all, but close enough that your aren’t drained from traveling. It’s home to some of our absolute favorite wineries and tasting rooms, but still has a small town feel and vibe to it.

The first winery we headed to was Gainey Vineyards…. the grounds are absolutely stunning and we couldn’t resist capturing these shots!

IMG_2914   IMG_2912

Then onto our favorite! SAARLOOS & Sons tasting room. This place has such a great feel to it. It is laid back, unpretentious, and an all around fun place to be. From the decor to the music they play, it is simply the best. The people who work there are friendly, down to earth, and fun to talk with. Another positive about this place (as if it needed anything else) is that you can pair your wine tasting with cupcake tasting from Enjoy cupcakes. I promise you, there will be no disappointment if you do this!

{The beautiful display of cupcakes!}

{So excited to start my taste and pairing!}

IMG_1940   IMG_2933

{After enjoying our tastes, we each ordered a glass of our favorite wine to enjoy out on the patio! It was a cold day so the fire pit made it very pleasant and relaxing. I would have to say this was one of my favorite parts of the whole day!}

IMG_2948   IMG_2970   IMG_2983

{SAARLOOS’s line up of wines is to die for! My favorite is the Grenache Blanc…. which they call the “Hers.” All of their wines have a family meaning to them. The tasting room already has a great feel to it, but the family meanings they add make it that much more unique and personable.}

{The SAARLOOS tasting room and Enjoy Cupcakes trailer!}

{If you do make the trip up there, you MUST try the Tri-tip sandwiches that the region is known for! The hubby loves them…. but not as much as the wine!}

When you get the travel itch, grab onto it! You don’t have to go far, and you don’t even have to stay the night! Sometimes it’s just nice to get away from it all. Life is busy and hectic…. we’re pulled in different directions several times a day. For me, it’s a time to reconnect with my hubby and myself. Mentally, it’s rejuvenating! AND exploring new areas, or visiting ones you enjoy, can increase happiness and positivity!
