On Monday morning TJ showed me this hilarious youtube video. Like, I was literally in tears laughing because I could relate on so many different levels (if you’re a parent you will especially relate….). Anyway, I watched it and went about my day. Fast forward to 10 hours later. TJ + I found ourselves living out a real life version of that video. Quite literally. Little miss was not having the coat (despite talking about it all day long) so we told her it was completely fine and that she didn’t need to be in the photos. But wait, she wanted to be in them, and then she didn’t want to be in them… oh, but she really did want to be in them…. and so it went for 30 minutes.
What I’ve come to realize over the last year, as Harper has gotten older, is that she is basically me in toddler form. Stubborn, strong willed, feels deeply, loves deeply… and so I empathize with her. But don’t get me wrong, it’s crazy making at the same time. Yet, it’s in those moments that I reflect back on something I once heard someone say, that deeply resonated with me. It was that God gave you your specific child because he knew you would be perfect for them… flaws + all. It’s that statement that helps me to center and parent her from a place of compassion.
Anyway… that’s really not what I had intended for this post…. but life happened and I felt compelled to share. What I did want to say is that this will be my last “fashion” post of the year. I have two more posts planned for this week, but wanted to take a moment to genuinely thank you for your support over this year. I wake up everyday profoundly thankful that I have the opportunity to share what I share on this small little space + none of it would be possible without you. I truly hope you have a wonderful holiday season with whoever you will be spending it with…. and that it’s a time where you can be present + soak in all that comes with this time of the year….
I’ll be taking two weeks off to enjoy our little family and the time I’ve been given with them. My mom, sister, + I plan on taking Harper to see Frozen 2 (her first time seeing a movie in the theater) and then out for a little Christmas lunch… just Harper + the girls. Then TJ + I will be heading out of town next weekend for an early birthday getaway to Santa Barbara… a simple birthday celebration with the family… and spending our first New Years in our new home, at home, as a family. It will be a time to rest, recharge, and prep for the new decade ahead… and I hope it can be the same for you as well!
Again, thank you thank you thank you! Have a wonderful couple of weeks friends! xx
