Whenever TJ and I go on vacation, we typically like to explore the surrounding areas. We’ve found that there is no better way to do so than by killing two birds with one stone: a little workout and sightseeing combined. Having been to Carmel several times before (here, here), we decided to revisit our favorite hiking spot, Point Lobos, and then head down the 1 into Big Sur to hike McWay Falls. It wasn’t anything too challenging, but it got us out, moving, exploring, and spending quality time together. Components that always make for a good day… especially when it starts with a little breakfast in bed.
I love that when you are traveling down the 1 you can pull off at various lookout points, snap a few photos, and take in the absolute beauty that the coast has to offer.
After Point Lobos, our first stop was Bixby Creek Bridge. If you wander across the road you can catch some pretty spectacular views.
The cutest little gas station. Ever.
McWay Falls is absolutely spectacular. An easy 4 mile hike, with the most gorgeous water colors… almost reminded me of Hawaii.
After our hikes, we stopped at Ventana Inn for a little lunch, while taking in the ocean view. I enjoyed the falafel wrap (highly recommend) and some of TJ’s french fries.
Once we got back into Carmel, we got ready and headed out for a little exploring. I love this sweater dress because it is absolutely perfect for a little wandering around. We picked up some Chai Tea Lattes and meandered the streets. For dinner we headed to Dametra Cafe for some delicious Greek cuisine. We ended the evening with a few little cookies in bed.
