Capri, Italy || Where We Stayed + Ate, What We Did + Wore

Finally getting around to sharing the last travel guide from our European adventures: Capri, Italy. Arguably still one of our all time favorite places in all of Europe. There is truly something about Italy that feels so special and magical. I’m not sure if it’s the lifestyle of “dolce far niente” (the sweetness of doing nothing) that makes it feel that way, but whatever it is, it holds a special place in our hearts.

After staying in a hotel last summer (that recap here), we opted to stay in an AirBNB and it was such a wonderful spot that allowed up space to spread out, and an opportunity to truly appreciate the lifestyle of the island. The hosts were a young family, and they were able to help us with many reservations and suggestions.

I’ve broken down our days, and recommendations, below. As always, I hope it helps if you’re looking to plan a trip here someday!
____

NIGHT 1/FULL DAY 1

La Capannina: We ate here for dinner twice- the ambiance is beautiful (truly magical) and the food is equally as good- can’t recommend the ravioli more… it was the best we’ve ever had, so light.

Da Luigi: We spent the first full day, and had lunch, here. Such a beautiful setting, set right behind the famous Faraglioni rocks…. it’s a serene spot to spend an entire day. We arrived at 10:30, via foot (you will see so much if you walk, but be prepared for switchbacks… it’s a workout in itself…), enjoyed a morning by the water, had lunch, and then swam in the water most of the later afternoon.

Gelateria Buomocore Capri: make sure to get gelato here… there is a reason the line is so long all day everyday. It’s been dubbed the best gelato (and pastries) on the island.

Fiore Capri: for the most beautiful handmade sandals… girls loved watching the process as well.

Paolino Capri : Such a gorgeous spot, that we visited last year as well… You basically enjoy your dinner under lemon trees… and the dessert bar was a hit with the girls (and TJ haha). (we ate here after Da Luigi)

DAY 2

Day on the water with Plaghia Charter. There are so many boat companies to choose from but we had such a wonderful experience with them. We went into Positano for the afternoon and ate at Chez Black. TJ and I dined here back in 2022, but TBH, aside from the decor it was very mediocre (to the point I didn’t finish my meal). I recommend passing on this and walking up the town to Bruno (so good and worth the walk).

Salumeria Da Aldo (located in marina grande): DO NOT miss this spot, but get there *early.* It was highly recommended from a local (and then confirmed by multiple others) as having the best caprese sandwiches and it was divine. Words can’t express how good it was 😂 if you get there past noon, she won’t have anymore bread, so TJ woke up early and went at 7am to ensure he could get two.

(we went back to the spot from our first night tonight)

DAY 3

Picked up a pastry (the Nutella filled croissants were 10/10) and tea in the Piazetta at il piccolo capri

Bagni International Beach Club: in the marina piccolo (you can make reservations for lunch like we did, which was delicious, or visit the snack bar for quicker bites) with views of the Faraglioni. Known for it’s colorful umbrellas, it’s very family friendly. It gets very crowded since the water is so still, and I really only recommend this spot if you’re with kiddos, since it’s predominantly families… but it was a wonderful time and it was the girl’s favorite spot.

And for an unassuming and truly magical dinner in what felt like a twinkly treehouse, we recommend Ristorante Le Grottelle. We made reservations here weeks in advance, since it’s very small, and it was everything we hoped it would be… don’t miss this spot!

DAY 4

Hotel La Palma Capri for a delicious breakfast on their serene patio. They also have a great night scene if you’re visiting without kiddos.

Da Gemma Capri: located in the marina grande. Another family friendly beach club, we enjoyed live music while we took in our last, long, lunch. There were tons of locals, so you know it’s a good one. We originally had a reservation at Bagni Tiberio Capri but they canceled last minute as they had a last minute event… next time.

For our last night, we dined at Il Riccio Capri and everything about it was stunning… from the pre-dinner cocktails at the lounge to the open air dining room… and the spectacular views. And the fish was some of the freshest from the trip. I will say that if you aren’t adventurous with your seafood, this might not be the right place and better to enjoy a sunset cocktail.
