Weekend Recap: Independence Day

itsy bitsy indulgences {Love Friday night snuggles}

Being the introvert that I am, I’d have to say this was a pretty great weekend (read: I am not shy… crowds, large groups, and small talk tend to draaaaain me…). Friday night, after Harper went down, TJ and I enjoyed a laid back evening…. vino, tunes, + good conversation. Saturday morning we headed down to Carlsbad for a bbq with a dear couple friend, and the rest of the weekend was involved with family, the pool, good food, and laughs (and throw in a fun neighborhood festive parade).

I’ve had all different kinds of 4ths over the years… big crowds and parties, a few spent on vacation, and some spent in my parent’s backyard by the pool. And, over the years, I’ve realized that the best of them were ones spent in small groups with those I care most about. That’s something I’ve come to value the most in my life… quality time with my most meaningful relationships. I feel so blessed to have spent a long and extended weekend in just the way I wanted it. I hope you all have a good (short) week!

We made this delicious salad for a BBQ, and these watermelon cocktails too!

 We’re heading up to wine country in a few weeks to celebrate my sister’s birthday. I always love wearing a simple sundress and bringing along a lightweight jacket. I’m eyeing this cute floral option, this blue and white shift, a black and white trapeze dress, this gingham print option, and this simple asymmetrical shift dress. For a top layer, this lightweight military jacket (I prefer the white) is my top choice…. but I’m also loving this longline sweater vest. As far as the toes go… I love these tan espadrilles, or these cute fringe lace up sandals (such a great price).

We also have a few fun bbqs coming up in the next few weeks and I’m loving this chambray off the shoulder top, paired with my favorite white cut offs. I also bought this striped one piece (okay… completely took me back to my elementary days… but I love it) and plan on pairing it with these black shorts. For casual summer evening get togethers, I also love a simple silk button up (an excellent investment piece if you ask me) paired with a slouchy linen short…. and my favorite summer sweater around the waist (in case it gets cold while making s’mores). I also like these silky cargo pants as an alternative to jeans and shorts (how perfect is the rose color?).

Annnnd, for little miss, I couldn’t resist these chambray bubble overalls, these adorable bloomers for warm evenings, these cozy footsie pajamas , and this red floral bubble romper.
