When I was younger, heading into kindergarten, I had to have this pair of white cowgirl boots. My mom expressed her hesitancies while we sat at Nordstrom trying them on. Her concern was that I would wear them once, realize they were uncomfortable, and then never wear them again (who, me??). Even at the ripe age of 5 years old I was able to aptly justify the need for these boots, and insisted they wouldn’t hurt. I had the perfect little outfit picked out… pink leggings, oversized pink shirt, larger than my head pink bow, and my white cowgirl boots with the leggings tucked in… and don’t forget the denim jacket tossed over the shoulder (it was the 80’s). The first day of school came, the outfit went on, and my mom received a phone call around noon. My feet hurt. My mom drove over new shoes. Bless Nordstrom’s generous return policy…. the boots went back.

Flash forward 25 years later and I am still in love with shoes… and pairing them with the perfect outfit (at least it’s perfect in my mind…). While my hesitancy to embrace over the knee boots (seen here, here) was present last year, that couldn’t be farther from the truth this season. With the weather s l o w l y making its transition to fall, I find them to be the perfect seasonal addition to any outfit. And since I am loving little black numbers as of late, why would this ensemble be any different?? I can already envision this cardigan taking me throughout the remainder of pregnancy, into winter, and my first months as a mom! That’s a winning piece, don’t you think??
