January is sort of a weird month… it’s typically pretty chilly. and then there are warmer pockets, post rain storm. Stores aren’t getting much new inventory in… or it’s slim pickings in preparation for Spring…. or, what you do see is all in preparation for Spring…. but the temperatures are too frigid to pull them out. Either way you slice it, it’s weird to me….

So, over the past few weeks, I’ve taken to mixing and matching most of my favorites… while still throwing in a piece that will transition nicely to Spring (I talked about that briefly in yesterday’s post). I’ve also been feeling the need to do another closet purge (I go on these sprees periodically…. last year’s was around this time when my closet collapsed…… from the weight of my clothing…..) so I started with my dresser drawers and stumbled across this belt I bought last summer. I was initially hesitant to keep it, yet after wearing it with a pair of denim shorts, I fell in love with it… and then it somehow disappeared into the abyss of my closet (not hard to do….), until last weekend. You see, in between these pockets of rainstorms, we get these gorgeous, sunny, mild days… where we head down to the beach for a morning run, or delicious brunch/lunch, and explore. On those days, I pull out a lightweight cardigan, like this super soft option, breezy lace cami (they’re my favorite layering piece), a few simple accessories, and head out the door. An outfit that’s casual, yet polished, and perfect for running after little miss toddler (because, I swear, she’s going to be a cross country runner….).
