I have to admit that I feel slightly behind with this post…. but in all fairness, winter just arrived several weeks ago, and cold weather just decided to settle in over here in California. So, all that to say, coats have been on heavy rotation over here… and I’m not mad about it at all. I look at coats/outerwear the same way I do all other pieces I buy. They have to be able to mix + match with pieces I already own in my closet… and I need to be able to find several different situations where I could easily wear them. I’ve put all these coats to the test… they’re warm, functional, and you can most definitely wear them across various occasions and situations, which I tried to show in today’s photos. If you’re looking for a good winter coat, I’ve rounded up my eight favorites below!

When we headed to Park City in November, the night before we were leaving I realized that my puffer coat from the past two years was in storage… and it was too late to go and get it. I ordered this puffer jacket and had it shipped to the hotel… and it was perfect for the snowy temps. It kept me super warm, and dry. I bought my regular size and it comfortably fit over a thick sweater. It’s great for rainy weather as well… and the faux fur trim is my favorite aspect.

This leopard coat is the one I reach for when my outfit is fairly neutral, but I’m still looking to add something to it. The length is great for colder weather, and it easily fits a long sleeve top underneath. It can easily transition from casual to dressy… and works for everyday life.

I know I’ve shared this faux fur jacket multiple times, but it’s so good for a fun night out…. or when you’re just looking to elevate an everyday look. You can easily pair it with jeans and a basic tee…. and I wore it for a night out with TJ by pairing it with OTK boots. It’s warm enough to keep you nice and warm as well.

This incredibly soft faux fur jacket was an investment, but one that has already paid off if I go by cost per wear. It keeps me super warm and is very versatile. I’m a huge fan of the slightly oversized fit, as it allows me to layer comfortably underneath. We’re just now starting to get into our winter temps in California, so I know this coat will be on heavy repeat all season.

I’ve had this cozy peacoat for several months now and it’s such an easy throw on and go jacket… paired with jeans, leggings, or joggers it goes with everything… and keeps you warm. It’s currently an extra 25% off the sale price (making it under $90) and also comes in black.

Another favorite over the past several months is this teddy coat (in color honey)…. wear it for a workout or with a casual outfit…. either way it’ll work. I don’t think this option easily dresses up, but you could try to pull it off with some faux leather leggings, a black silky blouse, gold accessories, and some OTK boots, or studded booties.

The color of this borg coat is deep and rich, which is what I was initially drawn to. While it’s not as versatile as the coats above, I do love the jewel toned color, which is perfect for these winter months. It does easily dress up and down though, when paired with neutral pieces…. It’s guaranteed to keep you nice and warm too. A note about sizing, I highly recommend sizing down if you’re in between sizes.

I bought this camel coat on Black Friday and love that the faux fur is removable…. so you can add it when you want to add something fun to your outfit… or take it off for a more conservative outfit…. meaning it works for work + play. As seen, it can easily be worn with jeans or leggings.
