Wellness Wednesday’s Tiny Moments With Aveeno: Being More Present

Tiny Moments with Aveeno, Itsy bitsy indulgences

I’ve always been one step ahead of myself. By that I mean I am always looking to the future… planning for my next stage of life. This has its positives… but it also has its shortcomings. You see, I often find that I miss out on life’s here and now experiences, all while planning and making my next move for the future. It’s something I’ve challenged myself to work on… time and time again… and it’s something that I’ve had mild success with.

Until this past weekend. I usually just scroll through my Facebook feed, but my mom had shared a post referring to your time with children. It read, “There are only 940 Saturdays between birth and when they leave for college. Use them wisely.” I stopped and reflected on this. I mean… looking that far ahead is completely within my realm of normal… but what shook me was the number. Only 940? I would have assumed the number to be much higher. It was pretty much a wake-up call for me to live my life more in the moment. To treasure each little giggle, snuggle, feeling of success and failure that parenting brings me. To not be so hard on myself and to find joy and excitement in the tiny moments… Since in the grand scheme of life they really are limited… and my constant need to continually move forward only takes me out of the experience of the current moment.

So, when Aveeno reached out and encouraged me to share my tiny moments, the timing was perfect.

My morning routine with Harper is one of the most precious times for me. We read a story, sing some songs (well… I sing, she smiles), and I give her lots of kisses. We just hang together. And since it’s our one-on-one time, I am sure to examine her. Daily (#ParanoidParent). Are the ears clean enough? Are there any rashes that are appearing? Dry skin?… and that last one has been a culprit for a few weeks now. So, I’ve been using Aveeno Baby Daily Moisture Lotion on her little legs and arms. I love the creamy texture, it’s easy absorption, and that it’s formulated with oatmeal. Since I use Aveeno moisturizer all the time, it felt only natural to use it on Harper. She loves laying on her back while I gently massage the lotion onto her legs and arms… and I take joy in the tiny moments watching her smile with glee!

Taking the time to focus on these #TinyMoments has really helped me in my attempts to be a more present momma. Yet, it goes beyond that. Being present in all of life’s tiny moments with those I love (TJ, my family, my friends) helps me to have more engaging and fulfilling relationships. Which is a pretty good goal if you ask me!
