It’s been a little while since I shared any recipes on here… I think we were in a bit of a food rut. Yet, since the backyard has been completed, we’ve been experimenting a little more, and when we had family over several weekends ago for an afternoon BBQ, TJ decided to get a little creative with our regular turkey burger recipe. The result was a turkey burger bursting with flavor (not usually two words associated together: turkey burger + flavor) and not to mention it was incredibly moist (that word makes me cringe, but it’s the only one that is accurate to describe these burgers)….
And as we approach the summer months, I know we will be having this on the regular. So I thought I would share it here today. It’s an easy weeknight dish, perfect for a weekend BBQ get together, and they’re even great leftover as well. I have mine wrapped in butter lettuce (since I’ve yet to find good gluten free hamburger buns), but they’re even better with a big ol’ bun. If you try, I hope you enjoy!
GRILLED TURKEY BURGERS
2lbs ground turkey
1tsp sea salt
2tsp minced garlic
1tsp fresh thyme
1tsp pepper
1tsp onion powder
2tsp Worcestershire sauce
1tbsp dijon mustard
OPTIONAL TOPPINGS
Cheese (I used Violife Cheddar)
Ketchup (we like Primal Kitchen)
Pickled Onions
Butter Lettuce
Tomato
Add all of the above ingredients to a bowl. Then mix them together with a fork…. we find it keeps the burgers light and fresh, as opposed to mashing it together with your hands. Form them into patties. Grill until they feel nice and firm, as if they bounce back when you push on them with your finger (this is how TJ explained it…). Top with your favorite toppings.
We love having our burgers with some sweet potato fries and Ina Garten’s Corn Salad. It’s seriously such a great spring and summer dish… perfect for al fresco entertaining!
