We headed out to the grocery store yesterday morning to pick up the Thanksgiving goods, and I left telling myself that if I forgot something, then oh-well…. the stores were absolutely crazy… and with little miss in tow, and pushing the shopping cart, I was either brave or just plain crazy….. Either way, we made it home in one piece, and on first assessment, I haven’t forgotten anything (keeping my fingers crossed that remains the case)….
Historically, our Thanksgiving mornings have consisted of a solid workout + then indulging in some homemade cinnamon rolls. This year, our morning routine will look the same as it always has… and we’re including the below strength training routine into the mix. It’s easy to do at home, and you’re finished within 30-35 minutes… meaning you have the rest of the day to spend with family + friends…… All you need are a set of weights, booty bands (you can do the workout without them if you don’t have them), and some great workout gear (see below for our his + her selects….)…..
Quick + Effective At Home Thanksgiving Workout
10-15 minutes of cardio (walk, run, etc…)
20 Deadlifts
Side Steps (with the booty bands around your ankles)- 4 to the right, 4 to the left, repeat 5xs
15 booty kickbacks, each side, with booty bands around ankles
16 back lunges, each side, with bicep curl
1 minute wall squat
15 Tricep Dips
10 Side Lunges, on each side, with hammer curl
15 Wighted Donkey Kicks
15 Weighted Donkey Kicks to the side
15 push-ups (modified or regular)
1 minute plank
1 minute forearm plank
30 second side plank on each side
Repeat 2xs
Estimated Total Time: 30-35 minutes
We were also both in desperate need for some cross training/running shoes. I’d had mine for so long the cushioning was gone, and TJ’s… well, we won’t even go there. So I picked up this super comfortable pair of trainers for myself, as well as these running shoe for TJ from Reebok. They have the best selection of shoes, work out wear, and accessories…. that fit great, feel great, and withstand any intense workout. Plus, a lot of their items would make great holiday gifts for the man in your life (or to add to your own list)… so if you know someone who loves fitness, Reebok is a one stop shop…. and they’re always running great “daily deals.”
TJ loves their classic pieces… says it reminds him of when he was in high school… so this tee + these classic, everyday, sneakers were a no brainer for him (I actually bought them for Harper + myself as well… they’re so comfortable and are great with jeans or joggers/leggings). The pullover + windbreaker pants are a great layer for his early morning runs as well… and the hat is for those weekend mornings when we’re heading out the door to walk to breakfast. I’m always a sucker for a perfect fitting, high waisted legging, and these are amazing…. I also have my eye on this french terry tunic… looks so comfortable for a post-workout breakfast (I’ll be adding it to my holiday gift list)…. and think this gym bag would make a great holiday gift (stick a pair of kicks in it for an added surprise….).
So, come tomorrow morning, we’ll be lacing up our new shoes for a morning sweat sesh before the festivities commence!
