Wellness Wednesday || All Things Cold Weather Fitness

Everyday I peruse my weather app on my phone… I love that you can have all these different locations and easily see what the weather is all over the world. I have various, slightly random, spots mainly telling of where we’ve recently traveled (or had planned to travel…) so we could track the weather leading up to the trip. Currently in the app: Santa Barbara, Palm Springs, Los Olivos, Sonoma, Ko’ Olina, Park City, Positano, New York, Las Vegas, Paris, + Chicago. I scroll through it every morning (out of sheer curiosity…) and the further east you move, the cooler it seems to be getting (duh, right?)… and while we’re still warm on the west coast the mornings are becomingly increasingly more brisk (and brisk is likely relative to where you live…).

That being said, I’ve started to pull out more of my fall workout pieces… leggings over shorts, tees over tanks, and anticipate wearing more layers (in the morning) as we move through October. So today I rounded up the fitness gear we rely on during the cooler months, as well as the apparel I find myself pulling on to get through the cooler morning workouts!
_________

FAVORITE WORKOUT GEAR

When the temps cool I love being able to get outside a little more (sometimes summer temps are too warm). We recently bought this bike buggy and can’t wait to go on longer bike rides with the girls (we’ve done 30 minute rides here and there in the early evenings). 15% off with code INDULGE15.

Hiking is also one of our favorite fall + winter activities… we’re able to head out a little later, and go longer, since the temps are much cooler. We’ve had this Deuter hiking back child carrier for several years and it’s great. It’s come with us on several trips to Park City (in fall and winter) and works great on any trail… and super comfortable for kiddos.

When the weather turns a little more inclement, that usually renders us inside for most workouts. We’ve been really happy with our Sole treadmill… it’s not top of the line, but it gets the job done. We purchased it at the beginning of spring last year and it’s great for walking + running workouts. I also love that the Peloton app has guided treadmill workouts… it makes the time go by much quicker.

I also love these workout resistance bands for quick and effective inside workouts…

This jumprope is another easy way to get in a good cardio workout when you’re not able to get outside… $20 with code ITSYBITSY20.

And I also added these cute ankle weights to our collection… they are super comfortable + add just the right amount of resistance when I don’t want something too heavy….

GO-TO WORKOUT ATTIRE

As far as working out when the weather is cooler, I’ve come to rely on a good pair of leggings, a fitted layering top, and a top layer as well. Depending on how cold it is, a beanie or some gloves usually keeps me warm enough….

As far as leggings go, the align leggings from lululemon are always a super comfortable option (love the high waist + interior key pocket). The Zella 7/8th leggings are another excellent choice… they have side pockets, which I really like, and are a little thicker than the align leggings. I also recently got these Glyder ribbed leggings and they’re amazing…. fit really well on the body and are super comfortable (note: they do show sweat marks, but that doesn’t bother me since I don’t really go to classes…). Alo’s airlift leggings are also a really great option, yet they don’t have any pockets for outdoor runs.

For layering tops, I’ve owned this one from lululemon for years and it’s such a great option. It’s not bulky or heavy, and it easily layers under a sweatshirt, vest, or runners jacket.

As far as top layers go, I love this cropped sweatshirt for days that aren’t super cold. Yet on chillier mornings, I love a good puffer vest (bought this one last year and has so many great pockets and love the collar), windbreaker jacket (works so well over the top I mentioned above), and full length sweatshirt (comfy for lounging too… I have it in two colors).

I also bought these gloves last year and they’re a great option, kept my hands nice and warm…. and my beanie’s from last season are sold out, but this beanie one looks great for all things outdoor.
