It seems a little ironic that all TJ + I have been brainstorming about lately are ways to streamline/simplify certain aspects of our life… when come April it’s about to get a heck of a lot more complicated (insert the emoji where the girl is shrugging her shoulders). That being said, we’re attempting to do some preliminary work, if you will, on ways to make working out + eating clean easier when we have two little ones running around…. we’re not delusional and realize that between balancing the fatigue of newborn life, a very active toddler, and work obligations that it would be easy to let some of the healthy habits we’ve established, and have followed for most of our lives, slip…..
So, we’ve started putting together a home gym in a portion of our garage…. with the hopes that it will eliminate the excuse of having to “drive” to the gym… or leave the other “on duty” parent completely helpless (I say that jokingly… sort of….).
I’ve also been experimenting more with meals that can easily be made ahead of time, for those moments when actually prepping a full meal just doesn’t feel possible. One of my recent favorites lately has been overnight muesli. If you haven’t had it before, it’s a cold breakfast dish that consists of oats, dried fruit, + nuts…. and is loaded with fiber, vitamins, omega 3, + minerals. You can find all different kinds of muesli at the store and the easiest way to prep it is the evening before. I simply add 1/2 cup of muesli to a bowl and top with 1/4 cup of oat milk. I cover it, pop it into the refrigerator, and then it’s ready for me in the morning. I love serving it topped with some granola + fresh berries. It’s hearty, tasty, and literally takes 5 minutes the night before. It will be an easy breakfast when life is crazy… and it’s a great option for those who find that they always need to eat and run….
And since I do always like to look pulled together when I workout, I’ve pretty much established a very easy grab n’ go outfit to toss on…. one that is practical, breathable, comfortable…. and still looks chic. It’s all black (always a good option in my book) + from Jockey. I’ve mentioned this before in several posts, but they have some of my favorite go-to items for working out + everyday life. Aside from the bralette I pretty much wear everyday (love the retro feel), I recently got this super soft breathe tank and have already worn it to spin, on several morning runs, and just lounging around the house. It feels soft on the skin, and keeps me feeling nice and cool. At this point in pregnancy finding pieces that feel good and fit the body nicely is a challenge, and this tank easily fits the bill (ordered it in white as well). Simply tossing it on in the morning with this bomber jacket as a top layer gives me a look that’s pulled together + practical for any workout, anywhere (garage, spin studio, outside, etc….). A few other easy throw on and go workout options that you can confidently toss into a gym bag include these sweat wicking leggings, funnel neck pullover (I prefer the grey shade), and this long sleeve tee (which I own in black as well, seen here). They’re having 20% off 2+ items right now too.
While we only have three definitive ways to make our healthy living routine stick with baby number 2, I’m grateful we have two more months to try to come up with a few more. Any tips and suggestions are welcome!
