I had this brilliant idea over the weekend, when I was in a very extroverted mood, to have a “small” end of the year pool party for Harper and her friends (the night before we have a 5am wakeup call to head out of town… very extroverted of me). I sent out some text messages and by the end of the weekend, the “small” gathering had blossomed to 26 people, including family and siblings.

So as I sat at my desk Monday morning, I found myself completely engrossed in planning this party, while neglecting my Monday to-do list. Now, here we are at 11am and it’s time to hunker down, party plan later, and tackle the to-do list…

But I guess that’s sort of representative of where we (asking for a friend here) are right now. We had our last Monday of the school year this morning, everyone is feeling the itch for summer, a break from the school year routine, and my complete procrastination in the world of Pinterest is just one more way I’m avoiding the real world demands.

All of that to say, it’s a new week and I hope everyone is having a more productive start than I am. I’m working on a round-up of my favorite linen pieces for the summer season, a delicious corn salad to make for your Memorial Day weekend gatherings, and then a full round up of MDW sales at the end of the week.

We’re heading out of town this coming weekend to celebrate a friend’s 40th in Palm Springs and while I don’t everything that I’m packing yet, I do plan on bringing this beautiful crochet kaftan, white swim top and bottoms, and this open knit top and pants for the evenings…

One of my favorite striped linen dresses that I took to Europe was restocked… as well as this black racerback traveler dress (I wore this one several times in Europe… so comfortable and easy to dress up or down).

My favorite oversized grey sweatshirt, that I wear year round, is 30% off…

A few summer bags that I’ve owned for a couple of years, that have been restocked (and recommend), include this small “pot” bag, open knit shoulder tote (I have this one in black and white), and open weave straw bag (I took this one to Europe a couple of summers ago and it was great for the beach).

Varley has some beautiful new arrivals for a chic summer season. I love these high rise shorts in the sage color, half zip open knit tank (pairs beautifully with the mauve pants I’m wearing above), ribbed maxi dress in sage (I own this in ivory and it’s beautiful), and this cute doublesoft romper.
