After what felt like one of the longest weeks (and months) ever, we welcomed the weekend (and a new month) with open arms. It always seems like a paradox: the first month of the year is supposed to be filled with new beginnings and “change” but this one seemed to be filled with one tragedy after another. And amidst the sad news of the past month, as I was scrolling through my instagram feed, I came across a post from one of my favorites, @Vexking, and he had written down some thoughts about childhood that really resonated with me, so I thought I’d share a few of them here to start the week…
“Think about how kids laugh so freely- no instagram algorithm to worry about, no five year plan stressing them out, no deadlines hanging over their heads. They haven’t learned to postpone happiness yet. They understand what we’ve forgotten: being alive is reason enough to celebrate.”
“Make room for play. We are all just kids with bigger bodies and greater responsibilities. Our spirit still needs laughter, silliness, fun, and being creative for creativity’s sake”
I saved these slides he shared as small reminders to find joy and fun in the simplest of moments.
With that, I hope everyone has a wonderful week ahead! I’ll be sharing February’s capsule on Wednesday and hopefully the styled outfits as well…..
____
(Back at a favorite, Malibu Farm, for a Friday lunch date… brown cardigan, brown sweater, jeans, sneakers)
(A quick trip up to Santa Barbar to see if we can make a dream a reality… jeans, half zip, tee, uggs)

If you’re looking for warm weather dresses and shorts for a casual spring break, I have a few rounded up below:
these are my favorite denim shorts (and they’re on sale!)
longer inseam drawstring linen shorts + these oatmeal colored linen shorts (both on heavy rotation every warm weather season)
striped shorts + top set
great basic maxi t-shirt dress (love the brown shade)
favorite linen pants (I’ve had these going on 3 summer seasons)
my go-to strapless top that I wear on repeat (have in white and black)
A few fun Valentine’s Day pieces to wear that aren’t cheesy…. like my favorite red pajamas (also come in a pretty blush) for a cozy evening inside, a simple basic red tee (one of my favorite styles) and jeans, favorite red heart socks (for a cute little festive touch), beautiful lace bodysuit for a night out (I own it and love it), blush sweatshirt for a casual laid back daytime outfit, red leggings and quarter zip for a hike with friends (own and love), and this pink relaxed cashmere sweater.
Some cute Valentine’s Day gift ideas for girls (various ages) include this purple Hyrdroflask (at least that’s what Harper said she wanted, haha), ultimate bead kit, pink Maryjane shoes (Camille loves), sequins heart sweater dress , heart hoops (Harper has these), smiley face slippers, and cute squishmallow hair clips.
