Weekend Recap || Transition Points

Friday was greeted with welcome arms from us…

It’s funny, when I first had Harper I never thought I would be one to shed tears at milestones… I figured I would view them as celebratory points along her journey in life. Yet this past week, as we approached Harper’s first day of school, I found myself very emotional. Maybe it was the fact that for the past 17 months it’s mainly been just us (she went to pre-school, but that was cut short by the start of COVID in 2020), or the rise in COVID cases creating apprehension in sending her back… but whatever it was, I couldn’t believe that it was already time for her to enter into full day kindergarten five days a week.

When the morning came to drive her to school, we took her as a family. Seeing the joy on her face, and watching her walk out of the car full of excitement prevented me from crying at the actual drop off point… but TJ didn’t fare too well and ended up crying the moment we dropped her off… which only led to me crying… and let’s just say we were happy for Friday evening and the chance to just unwind with a glass of bubbly.

I used to talk with families about transition points within the family system and that it’s ok to have different emotions surrounding them. Sending Harper off to school was definitely one of those “multiple emotions” transition points for us. So excited for this new adventure she is embarking upon and the little lady she is growing up to be… but there is always a tinge sadness as you realize how quickly time goes by… and then the reminder that time is something you can’t get back…

All that rambling to say… it was an unexpectedly emotional week, the weekend was a great way to process and unwind, and now it’s time to really get settled into that Monday- Friday weekday routine. I hope you all have a good week ahead!

(And, she’s officially off to Kindergarten, and couldn’t be more excited about it! her dress, sneakers, backpack)

(Squeezed in a Friday morning run before we dropped little miss off for her first day… tank, shorts)

(Settled nicely into the weekend in our favorite spot….)

(Quick change into shorts since it was too hot for the lounge pants I initially had one…. shorts, top)

(Quick morning hike before birthday celebrations… biker shorts, crop)

(Celebrated my dad’s birthday and snapped this cute photo of the girls with my 93 year old grandma… Camille’s middle name is after her…)

(Comfy set for a day by the pool… shorts, top, suit)

(Started a new book… I’ve heard great things about this one….)

(Closed out the weekend with some delicious halibut tacos….)

________

Z Supply has some of the cutest new lounge arrivals for fall… I purchased these joggers and this half zip (I thought they would be an exact match, but the coloring is slightly off.. but this henley is a match)… and this stripe shorts and top set are super cute for lounging…. I also think this long sleeve hooded jumpsuit would be so comfortable for fall.

Love this floral top for a day or night out…

The J. Crew Coatigan I wear all fall, winter, and spring is currently on sale plus an additional 20% off… I always include it in all the monthly capsule collections. It runs large so I recommend sizing down.

This gauze coverup dress I wore on Sunday is on sale as well, I do recommend sizing down in this as well…

This ribbed bodysuit looks so comfortable… wear with cut-offs in the summer and as a great layering piece in the fall… and I also think this short sleeve half zip sweatshirt would be great for post workouts.

Also, this oversized black denim jacket I purchased last year (styled several ways here) was recently restocked.
